So, I did a thing. I decided to buy a handletter instruction set. And I also bought a wax seal set. The first wax seal attempt was rough, to say the least. I didn't think through fully the whole melt hot wax thing. But it was fun! And I got a seal that I used to send a letter!

The handletter set seems a bit easier. I printed some pages out to practice. And at least I can't burn myself! But don't worry, I haven't given up on the wax seal yet! I'm going to figure it out.
Meanwhile, necessity has also required me to figure out how to hang drywall and basic wiring for changing outlets. These are skills that I was okay not knowing as much about. Silly house!

How about you? Are you learning anything new? Experimenting with something different? Learning things from home repairs?

OOOOOOO! I have pen pals and wax seal ALL my letters! I have a collection of 48 stamps and all sorts of pretty waxes! I am now playing with coloring the decorative portion one color and the background another....

I have wax seal stampers and wax sticks (they are like candles, you light the wick and drip the wax onto the envelope) from my high school days (1967-1971) in my china cabinet drawer. They were super popular at the time.

I just ordered a wanderlust passport travel journal and a Kodax mini printer ... am planning on using it in a couple of weeks when I go on vacay.

My daughter brought home a wax seal kit from school last year so she used it to stamp all our Christmas letters. It was cute! I'm sorry you burned yourself; I did too!

I am learning how to play a few new songs on the piano this week. Does that count? I can't think of anything else haha

Any learning I’ve done recently is for professional development and to make my resume and job applications look good!

I’ve been doing some virtual training on an inclusive post high school education for educators and support staff. Next on the agenda is going to be about accessible documentation (ie: word, power point etc) - I’m quite looking forward to that but just haven’t started yet because of sickness.

I've learned a lot from home repair over the years lol. I actually have a stack of new outlets that I need to get working on.
I'm headed to a training tomorrow to learn a whole new curriculum for my classroom. Just when we get used to one, they switch it up :/
I also recently learned that if you want skeletons to stand up in your yard, don't use wooden dowels...they bend and break, and then your skeletons are all passed out in the yard. Rebar works much better :giggle

I love to learn new things. I especially love to learn how to fix things around the house (yay for YouTube). I've gotten pretty good at patching drywall over the years, but I will say that doing electrical stuff is one of those things that scares me and I make my hubby do the outlet changes, so good for you guys that do that yourself!

I think the last new thing I learned how to do was how to use a router (wood working). That thing is rather scary too, as it could cause major injures if you're not careful so I read the entire manual and then watched a bunch of video before I even turned it on for the first time. It's SO much fun to use though! I used the router (and my table saw) to make these. The keyhole slots were super fun to add and I used the router for the groove in the shelves:

I also recently learned how to carve stamps and images using rubber blocks and even linoleum to make monoprints like they used to use in old school books.

I love the Pad questions because I know that I need to check with my doctor for vitamins/calcium ( one question @umyesh asked previously) and now I need to have the courage to learn new things...I really want to teach some Tricks to my puppy, right now she only learned the seat command....
and I wish I could do some crochet...
today I'm going to the doctor and will ask for blood test!!

I also recently learned how to carve stamps and images using rubber blocks and even linoleum to make monoprints like they used to use in old school books.

That reminds me that we carved images into rubber blocks in my high school art class, then made prints with the blocks. I'd completely forgotten doing that. Thanks for the memory nudge!

I'm working on getting up the courage to learn to do stop motion graphics. The problem is that I am not patient and if I don't get good at it quickly, I'll want to abandon the plan.

I thought the other day - goodness me that's a first!
For the life of me I can't remember it now though.
[My pansies died and so I planted marigolds instead.]
Love seeing what everyone is up to.
Awesome!

I love handlettering.. I did calligraphy for a long time :)

Teaching my kids Latin, Algebra, Logic...all the things...I'm always learning. LOL. My brain hurts too much to learn anything else.

But seriously I haven't really learned a new craft or hobby in a long time, but that's okay! I think I enjoy watching my kids learn and grow in their gifts and that satisfies me. (dance, drawing, instruments, sports, etc...)

Most of the time when I'm learning a new skill it's out of necessity (and, unfortunately, not because I'm satisfying some creative outlet). For example, I've learned out to edit video this month because I'm creating a baseball recruiting video for my son. A lot of my learnings result from things I do at work. I am envious of you all who have fun things you've learned!!

My mum got a wax seals kit for her birthday last month.

I did some of the free classes at Design cuts for Affinity recently. Need to practice the techniques before learning something else. Life is crazy at the moment though, so I might get the hang of it in a few months or so.
