I have been neglecting scrapbooking the last few weeks and only just now began making a page for the first time since the latest PS CC upgrade.

The first thing I noticed was that holding shift while resizing is no longer necessary. Nice!

Then I saw how messed up my panels are. Why can't they keep them the way we had arranged them when they upgrade? Hmph. But I wasn't going to post just to complain.

But then! I clicked on the blend options and WHOA! As I just move my pointer up and down the drop down list my photo on my layout is actually changing from one blend mode to the next. I was like :faint2 :D :yahoo:yesss:woot:yippee:circles:love

It's the little things :lol

Okay, I've caught my breath. Back to scrapping.

What new things do you like or dislike about the latest version of PS?

I love when they make cool updates too!!! Little things mean a lot. :)

I actually don't like that we don't have to hold down shift when resizing. It is so automatic for me, that I always hold the shift key and then get out-of-proportion element or photo and have to redo it!

My styles keep resetting to the default styles, and that is annoying. I haven't figured out how to permanently change the styles to my styles list (I have custom shadow styles that I always use).

It took a while for me to go through and reset to the default behaviour that I was happy with (trying to get windows to not open as tabs by default, for example).

And of course there was the Legacy Compositing mess that had to be figured out.

But other than that, the app seems pretty stable.

Well....seeing as how I was kind of forced into getting PS CC because my Mac upgraded and my old PS bit the dust in the process....I'm now going....
WHOA!! It does that???!!!!! COOL!!
Wait a minute!! That's COOL!!!!
Oh, WOW!! Look what it does!!!!!

LOL I'm loving it!! A LOT!!

I am still really having a hard time adjusting to not holding the shift key!! I really have to focus or my finger just finds its way there all on its own lol. I'm sure it'll be great when I retrain my brain!

Not holding the shift key was actually a feature in either PSE5 and when I moved to PS I hated having to hold the shift key! Now I just have to remember to hold the ALT/OPT key if I want to resize proportionately from the center.

The same is true of scrolling through the blend modes. It was available in PS on my Windows laptop but when I moved to a MAC it was not. I HATED that so I'm a happy camper with the change.

Other than those, I haven't really run into any issues but I don't use a lot of Styles. I'm sure that I'll run into new issues as I continue using the latest version but that's always true of any new software update!

Good luck to everyone in their pursuit of happiness with the new version of PSCC!

I don't know that this is helpful...

I saved my preferred panel layout under workspace. When I updated this last time, it reloaded to my Workspace so everything was just the way I like it.
As for styles, I saved mine to a file, so I can reload them if the update screws them up. This one didn't mess with mine, but others have!

Um, what do you mean by this? I feel like I might be missing out!

YUP me too re the regular transform tool, but it is getting better.. I still find that it makes me crazy lol..

Also to @michelepixels Michele also:
FYI if you hold the ALT key with the transform it will still equally transform from both sides equally.

I don't know if you all have tried the content aware tool (under Edit drop down menu), but that is better too... here I got rid of all the wires using the content aware (and also using a little of the clone tool):

I put my name over the image as I made a Christmas card of the image for my brother as it was his photo.

Courtney, now when you go to apply a blend mode ie Color burn to the layer, with the layer highlighted in the layer panel, just keep your cursor on the blend mode and scroll with the wheel and it applies the different blend modes so you can choose which blend mode works best for your layer. - it could be you do this automatically and don't even realize it. I did something similar before so it didn't seem that big a deal for me.

I think there was a way to scroll through the blend modes before. I learned it on PC before I got my Mac in 2011. But I never learned how to do it with the Mac. And it only scrolled through the blend names in the drop down window. Now as I scroll through the names, I can SEE the blending effect on my photo instantly. It has taken me years to learn which blend modes do what. Newbies will now learn so much faster about blend modes! It'll be less trial and error.

Yep, I already do this. I also do it with font size and name. And leading, in case you didn't know it works there too!

Did you know you can sort in the layers panel and narrow down what you see?

Yes me too re font/size/name
I don't know how to sort/narrow.. I know you can group to lessen the amount of layers and roll up the styles but narrow down what you see? I don't understand what you mean.

@cfile Christa this is how I do it.
Name: lets me pick out layers with the same name. You just type whatever you want to find where I wrote paper.

Kind: I use for text. It makes it easier if I want to grab all the text layers and change their properties at the same time. You can see where I selected T for text. The first one selects image files - not always the easiest since it grabs all elements, papers, and photos. Then, adjustment layers, text, shapes, and smart objects.

hmmm interesting. Thanks Courtney.. didn't know that!

I haven't upgraded because of all of the issues people seemed to be having, I'm scared, lol. Hopefully most of the quirks have been worked through by now!

I wish!
Mine updated to the latest one, and it's the broken shadows. Now I have to go search because I thought there was a fix for that.
My temporary one is separating the shadow layer. For some reason that makes it look normal.

@cfile Christa? Did you have this problem?
