So, after many years of thinking about it and talking about it and going back and forth about it, I have finally decided to go have the Lasik procedure done. My eyesight is such that I cannot function without my glasses and that really isn't working for me anymore. It's really cutting into the active/sporty lifestyle that I am 'trying' to maintain. I have an appt for the surgery Thursday morning and I am feeling pretty good about it but I was wondering if any of you ladies have had it done? Any advice for me??

I had it done four years ago and I wish I had done it sooner! I have nothing but good things to say about it. It's so freeing to be done with contacts and glasses.

The surgery itself was so easy. It was painless and over in five minutes. You'll be using a lot of eye drops for a few months, but that's about it.

is lasik laser treatment,if so i know of a girl who had it done and she said it was the best thing she had ever done and best thing money could buy so good luck for thursday

My step dad had it done and was one of the very few (1/10000 I think) that had problems. I can't remember the details, but now a few years down the track his eyes are great. So I think even if there are problems it is still worth it.
Good luck and enjoy!

I had it done over 10 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did for myself. I was literally legally blind and I ended up with 20/20 vision. It felt like a miracle to me :) About 3 years later I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that gives me very dry eyes, so in a way its good that I got it done so long ago, no surgeon would ever do it now with my level of dry eyes. But even knowing now that my eyes would be so dry, I would still do it to have that wonderful, fabulous and fantastic freedom from my glasses that I had since I was 8 years old. You won't regret it for a minute :) good luck!
oh and PS it was very painless and easy to recover from, but I still freaked out and needed an extra sedative pill LOL. cutting eyes completely heebs me out :)

My husband did it... hm, back in 2001 or 2002, and he was very happy. He could see right away and has been seeing great in all these years. He recently started saying that his right eye seems to be getting nearsighted again, but he hasn't had it checked yet.

Don't know anyone who has done it or I don't know they had it done but just wanted to wish you well on the appointment.

I had it done in 2003 and it has been wonderful! It's so nice to be able to see the clock when I wake up, swim without contact lenses, etc. The freedom is fabulous!! Good luck with the procedure, Kelly. I am sure you will be pleased.

Oh wow - I've been thinking about doing this for years as well...I should really get more info on it. Good luck on your procedure!!

oh good luck... I've thought about it but haven't done it yet... I've had several friends do it and are so happy with the results!!!

The only reason I haven't done it is because I can't imagine being without glasses... they're the only fun thing in my wardrobe LOL

i had it done a few years ago - i LOVE it :) i have been wearing glasses/contacts since i was 3 years old, so it was a big change - but it is so fabulous to wake up and see, be able to swim/exercise and not worry about contacts, etc. the procedure was easy/painless/quick - but it was a little freaky LOL! once i got home, i took a long nap and when i woke up, i could see - i was so excited :) as mentioned above, you use a lot of eye drops in the beginning - but its no biggie.

i do miss having glasses a little - i think i look better with them! haha! but - i think i'm going to need reading glasses in a year or so, so i'll have them then :) heehee ..

good luck and enjoy!

I had it done about four years ago and like everyone else said its the best thing I've ever done for myself. It is amazing to not need contacts or glasses after having them since I was four years old. My eyesight wasn't perfect right away though so don't freak out if that happens to you. My eyesight was so bad that it took a few weeks for my brain to catch up with my eyes. Lol. Plan on being away from the computer for awhile too while your eyes heal. It wigged me out to try to focus on the screen for awhile. Good luck. I can't wait to hear your reaction!

I had it done over 10 years ago. Because of astigmatism, I couldn't get to 20/20, but I'm not far off. I pretty much go without glasses, but I do wear them for driving. I've even put prescription lenses into my sunglasses recently for driving.

I'll be honest...it was very scary for me and I could go and get a "touch up" if I wasn't so scared, but if my vision got to 20/20 or better now, I'd have to use reading glasses for everyday, and I kind of like being able to see a menu at a restaurant, price tags in stores, etc... I do use reading glasses for reading at home, but that mostly helps with the eye strain.

It's a bit of a pain getting older!!

It really was one of the best things I ever did. I had worn glasses since I was 9 years old and couldn't see anything without my glasses. It opened up a whole new world to me and I don't ever regret doing it!

eta: I do suffer from dry eyes and always have. I have a bottle of "Refresh" next to my bed for when I first wake up, and sometimes need it in the evening if my eyes are tired. My sister had the surgery and needs drops too. My brother had the surgery and he's never needed drops. It's a common problem though.
