Hey ladies,
I remember we had a thread a couple (or 4 or 5? LOL) years ago, and I know many of you have some sort of combination.
We are cooking a lot at home and have gone in 3 years through 3 food processors, (the last 2 in the past 10 month though) cheap ones that burn when you use them for longer than 5 minutes, so we started talking and Sarita said she has some money saved and she may invest...
She had mentioned Kitchen Aid a while ago but we both said it was expensive.
But now, we thought we could go half & half -and this excites us more than looking at clothes, purses or shoes :rofl

So off we went to the Kitchen Aid site.... and oh my.... We are in love.....
We came to this, Artisan 5K that does pretty much everything and costs £399
which would be doable now, we want to know... do any of you who have it think is worth it?
I mean will it last? what is your experience?

we are here and kinda tempted to buy NOW, but we thought better get some input if you are around?

@bestcee didn't you say you have one?
Can't think who as my memory is worse than bad....

I don't have one so I'm not much help. What did you use your old ones for? Maybe that will help others to know if this one will last for you?

pretty much everything really, things like making humus which means process chick peas with garlic and tahini paste and a drop of olive oil and tint bit of water, which requires power force, the ones we have were very cheap ones that overheat if you use them for longer than 5 minutes, making dough, whipping and making soups....

The reason I came to ask is because I remember lots of scrappers at the time explaining how worth the Kitchen Aid was, and also Sarita says all the Instagram food people she follows use it....
so it actually needs to be someone who has one to tell us their experience, but I'm almost sure it will be worth it :)

I don't have one but I have a kitchen aid mixer (inherited from Dad) and it is terrific.. dad always bought kitchen aid (he had the dishwasher too) so I would say if you can afford it, go for it.. by the time you spend $$ on cheaper models and replace every year buying the kitchen aid makes sense!! Xo enjoy!!

I had a little Kitchenaid food processor that lasted well over a decade and worked very well for a variety of chopping and pureeing jobs. I got rid of it when I got a Ninja Blender and found I was using it so much and the old processor was gathering dust in the corner. And I just replaced my ~15 year old Kitchenaid hand mixer with a new one exactly the same except a different color. The old one was still working just fine but the cord was fraying.

After seeing that, now I want one too! We had a Black & Decker one that we got for a wedding present and it lasted 25 years until the spindle that holds the shredder attachments broke. We've been looking for a replacement but now use our Kitchen Aid Mixer which has a shredder attachment. But this would be the ultimate food processor. I'm going to see what others have to say in this thread.

They say that the best camera is the one in your hand. I would say the same about a food processor. Ours (a no-name something) sits in the cupboard gathering dust while I use a knife. We just don't bother getting it out. So if you kept it on the counter and you were willing to clean it all the time, go for it.

My daughter has the Kitchenaid Professional mixer and it is the bomb. Love it - it is worth the money because she bakes a lot.

I have a really old Kitchen Aid model and love it. Mine is 21 yrs old. LOL!!!! My only problem w/ it is that I find it really hard to put everything back to put it away. Hopefully they have fixed that.

No Kitchen Aid, but I love my mixer - really a class act - I’m sure the FP is built with the same solid materials. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone complain about Kitchen Aid anything. Enjoy!

I can't help with kitchen aid ... I have a Thermomix ... and I use it almost everyday ...

Oh I forgot.. I too have the Kitchen Aid Hand mixer too!

not got that brand, but we do have a catering grade food processor, blender and juicer. Definitely worth paying the extra for. The cheep ones only last us a few months.

I have the KA food processor Cynthia. It really is awesome and the best built small appliance in my kitchen. Have had it since I moved in here - so about 15 years. I can't ever imagine this thing burning out. It has all the different blades - we use it for puree - pesto/hummus, use it to chop, to slice veggies - like for ratatouille, and it shreds cheeses in seconds (my daughter likes to make homemade mac n cheese a lot). It is really a lovely tool. I am dieing for the KA mixer - but my daughter who does more baking than I do, says it's not worth it for us bc I don't bake often. My model doesn't have everything your model has - I like that egg whipper! I bet that would work nicely for whipping cream.

I do also have the Ninja all in one blender - it came with a food processor with just the std blade and I do use that at times bc it's always out. I bought that Ninja blender model bc it had the big blender container and then several single serve containers. And we use that thing all the time. It didn't need the food processor but it came with it and there weren't a lot of blenders with big and single serve containers at the time. The KA food processor is so much nicer.

thanks SO SO mu ch everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@cfile after we read you last night, went back to the site and realized it is not available right now , says "available soon" so we clicked on "email me when available"
Sarita almost cried :giggle
We had a look at other stores, John Lewis has it but is a cream color that clashes with our kitchen and, hey, if we are going to spend £400 quid...better get something we want to look at!!!!
I went searching but the stores who have it is only that color, I started looking and found others, but after seeing the range this one can do, nothing looks worth the money!
so now to wait, I m gonna be like with Pollys CT calls years ago, refreshing every 5 minutes the email :rofl

@BevG thanks :)
I do agree with you, it depends on how much usage you give.
With Sarita, last night, even though we both love the kitchen more than anything else in the house, when she started talking about i vesting her own money in a proper electric whisk and a processor....first thing I asked was : only commit if you will carry on once we go back to something that vaguely resembles normal..... (which I m not sure it will be so soon here in the UK , unfortunately, but still)
The thing with us is, we do cook a lot of stuff that needs an electric whisk, plus to me, I'm not allowed by doctors to be in the kitchen on my own, I don't just have arthritis and stuff that impaired the use of my arms in an accident (which, for some reason I still cannot understand... I wasn't the one driving) but the same neurological issues that makes reading and writing sometimes an impossible task happens with using knives hot water, moving sauce pans and a number of things in the kitchen.
Now not only we have been using processors a lot since we had to go back to a healthier diet after my body started to fall apart in 2012, but Sarita is now following a couple of people who are chefs that do no waste food, and is incredible.... so, yes, I agree with you 100% :)

has visto el link? YES! they more than fixed that, honestly, it has three bowls and one sits on top of another, so, if you want to make bread or pizza you use the big one, if you only want to make a sauce or chops garlic , or small amount, you can use the small one without the need to dirt the whole thing, plus they have the attachments in a cool case!!!
lo que le dije a Christa: is not available yet :( Sarita is still sleeping, I refreshed my email ( dumb, as is Sunday only hours after we went to sleep LOL) 50 times before coming here LOL

I must say that I do love my Vitamix so much!

we have a blender, a normal one which we haven't used since we got the Breville smoothie maker, which we use A LOT but it doesn't work to grind chick peas , even with the Brazilian stores frozen fruit pulp and sometimes if you put lots of pieces of frozen fruit, you need to go for small amounts or it locks the blades...this is our one, I am right now using one of the bottles as my water bottle

No Kitchen Aid, but I love my mixer - really a class act - I’m sure the FP is built with the same solid materials. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone complain about Kitchen Aid anything. Enjoy!

thanks my lovely!
Yes, this is what Sarita was saying last night, and what made me remember about when we talked about it here years ago..... We don't have an insta pot.. we have the Ninja Foodie Grill that Grills, Roasts, Air Frys and Bakes.. We have been grilling and air frying for over a year in it, and yesterday CJ baked pastry covered Brie with Proscuitto (spelling??!!) and it came out beautifully on the bake cycle.. now we only have to try out the roasting setting :)

Re not available right now in red....I am sure it won't be too long before it is available.. red must be popular :) I am sorry Sarita almost cried. I am sure when you get it you will be real pleased :)
Too funny about your refresh button! Hugs!

I know, in my head I couldn't think of the kind of appliance it was, I knew it did a whole lot of stuff similarly to the insta pot so maybe that is why I typed insta pot, but I didn say Ninja, didn't I?
Sarita wasn't here with me, she only came now with coffees, and, for you to get the dimension of my neurological dumbness.....
:imok
we were paying into our credit cards and I was trying to log into one of them, and I kept typing the parts of the password it was asking me for, I was at it for 10 minutes and frustrated I said to Sarita the keyboard is not working, it isn't typing!!! and she looks up from her own accounts , looks once, and again, and she says

is NUMBERS, mum, the NUMBERS not the password
:giggle:giggle:giggle

@MrsPeel I was on my phone I think first and didn't look at the link. OMG, that is a gorgeous food processor!!!!!!!!! wow! That little caddy for the blades and everything else is perfect! Mine has the bowl inside the bowl and I love that. Sometimes you just want to do a bit of a sauce or something and you need a smaller container.

btw. your smoothie maker is fabulous, you don't have to move the smoothie to your drinking bottle WOW!!!!
