Kids.....

Human, Fur or another kind? Fur & Human
How many do you have? 1 cat, 5 humans (soon to be 2 more humans)
Age differences between them? 13, 11, 9, 7, 5 (and the 2 new ones are 2 & 3) <----Those are my humans. Our cat is about 1 year old.
Personality differences? 13 year old is super mature, smart, organize. 11 year old not so mature, not so organize, but super funny. 9 year old is our animal/nature love and is just fine being in her own little world. 7 year old is a thinker, builder and another smart cookie. 5 year old is outgoing, talkative (extremely) and likes lots of attention.
Do they get along? For the most part. The 13 and 11 year old had a tough spell there a couple years ago but have a great/close relationship now. The 7 and 5 year old are best buds (seriously, it's the cutest thing ever). The 9 year old is left in the middle and usually instigates most of the problems.
How did you pick their names? The three older girls were just sort of random. We went the whole pregnancy not really agreeing and then all of a sudden we would come across a name we liked. They all have Bible names for middle names. The 2 younger kids, who are adopted, both have Bible names for their first names and we've kept part of their Chinese names for their middle names.

Human, Fur or another kind? Both

How many do you have?
2 human, 1 fur

Age differences between them?
The humans are 18 months and 2 days apart (16 and 14)... the fur child is approximately 7

Personality differences?
Appearance-wise they get mistaken for twins quite regularly, personality-wise they're not that much alike. My son (16) is a bit of an introvert, compliant, responsible, needs his downtime, not very athletic, and does well in school. For my daughter (14) rules are suggestions, she's an extrovert, she has to be constantly doing something, claims Hulk is her spirit animal and loves her muscles, and although she struggles with grades, she is a much better student than her brother since she has to work for her grades (where grades comes easy for my son).

Do they get along?
Yes, very well actually. They are teens and very busy, so they don't do a lot together, but they really seem to enjoy it when they are together. We have a cabin in Michigan, and although there are enough bedrooms for them to have their own, they still prefer to share a room... especially on Christmas Eve.

How did you pick their names?
Our son is Graham Alexander. Graham is my maiden name. Jeff and I both really liked the name Alex and the original plan was for Alexander Graham, but that reminded us too much of Alexander Graham Bell, so we switched. We have always called him Alex. Well, in high school he got tired of correcting his teachers and has decided to go by Graham instead. In addition to not wanting to correct his teachers, there were a lot of Alex's in his classes which also helped with his decision to switch. I'm having a really hard time adjusting to the new name. It's strange hearing people call him Graham... especially with it being my maiden name.

Our daughter is Clara Grace. Original plan was for her name to be Grace, but we knew we would probably call her Gracie and I just couldn't do Tracie and Gracie :-) We were almost to her due date and didn't have a name. Then I remembered a girl I knew in college. I didn't know her well, but I remember being intrigued by her, her name was Clara and her family had just moved to the US from Poland. I decided to throw that name into the ring... different but not unusual, and since I had married into a Polish family, that part fit as well.

This is going to be kinda long, so beware...lol

Human, Fur or another kind? - 3 humans, 1 dog, 3 cats, and a bunny. Saint Bernard named Dozer, cats are Lainey, Nucky and Ace. The bunny's name is Chibs.

Age differences between them? - Human kids....Oldest is 19 today (7/1), middle is 15 1/2, youngest just turned 13 in April.

Personality differences? - The oldest has anxiety, is ADHD and ODD, but he's handling this "adult" thing fairly well, with the help of my sister and mom (he lives in MA with my sister). The middle one is our funny kid and is fairly easy going. The youngest also has anxiety and is ODD, not to mention a girl and a teenager...and SHE'S DRIVING ME NUTS. LOL

Do they get along? - The oldest gets along pretty well with his siblings, as long as it's one on one. If all 3 of them together it's usually chaos. The middle and youngest fight ALL THE TIME. They have their moments when they get along. Usually when they are ganging up on me. For the most part they pretty much ignore each other. Should be interesting when they're in high school together next year.

How did you pick their names? - Christian James Dorsey....we call him C.J. Christian was the only first name my ex and I could agree on, James is after one of my favorite cousins who was killed in 1993, Dorsey is my maiden name.

Broderick David Michael....we call him Brody. Broderick was a name hubby and I fell in love with. We thought it was cute, but also sounded sophisticated. David is my husband's father and brother's first names, and my husband's middle name. Michael is my dad.

Margaret Amy Rose....we call her Maggie. Originally she was to be Olivia Margaret Rose, but hubby wanted to call her Maggie, so we nixed the Olivia (which I am glad we did, because it has become SO popular). Margaret is after hubby's great grandmother. She died 4 months after hubby and I started dating. Amy is after me, and Rose is after an aunt that I used to be very close to.

How did you pick their names? Jessica's name came to me in a dream. The doctor had said I was having a boy (back before ultrasounds were commonplace and I didn't have one). I was going to name him Jordan. But I dreamed that I had twins (a boy and a girl), and they were going to be Jordan and Jessica. So after the shock of finding out I had a girl, I didn't have a name and my mom suggested Jessica since that was what I'd dreamed.

It's not certain because it was 1977. But, because of all that happened it makes sense. It looks like I had a twin that my mom miscarried in the 5th month. I was born 2mo early. The doctor said her uterus had grown for twins even though there was only 4lb me. We were to be Jessica & Justin cuz mom was sure we were a boy & girl. She said there was a tv character called Jessica, girl spy & she liked a tough name like Jesse James. Also, JB Barnes sounded like an executive. I'm Jessica Brea Barnes.

Human, Fur or another kind? human and fur

How many do you have? 5 human and 1 fur

Mine are boy 25, boy 22, boy 20 (in 8 days), boy 15 (16 the end of August) and girl 13
The fur baby is a crossbreed Cheagle named Kobe. He's about 15 pounds of the cutest, best dog ever. :)

Age differences between them? My oldest son was 12 years and 4 months when my youngest was born. Logan and Hunter are 3 years 4 months apart, Hunter and Dalton are 2 years 2 months, Dalton and Lincoln are 4 years 1 month and Lincoln and Nyah are 2 years 8 months apart. Whew!

Personality differences? Let me count the ways. Lol. It is truly amazing how the same set of parents can produce five children that can be so completely different at times! My oldest and youngest boys have a lot of the same personality traits, yet they have channeled them differently. My daughter is a lot like my second son, except for the "girl drama" that goes along with being a teenager. My third son is me made over in male form. lol. They are all athletic, creative, they all love to read and learn new things and are all smart kids. They are also pretty stubborn, persistent and on the lazy side. Of course, they are all teens and young adults still living at home, too. :D

Do they get along? Now they do as they are older. In their younger days, the boys would fight like cats and dogs twenty times a day! I can't even tell you how many times I had to separate them when they were little. Sometime around when they were 12 or 13, that all kinda just faded away and they are all great buddies now.

How did you pick their names? I named Logan, Lincoln and Nyah. Brent named Hunter and Dalton. We did not know the gender of the first two so we had both girl and boy names picked out for each. I loved the name Logan and his middle name is Patrick. He was not named after anyone in particular. How was I supposed to know we were going to have four boys?!? lol. After I picked out Patrick for the middle name, I found out that Brent's deceased father's birthday was St. Patrick's Day so that was fitting.

With Hunter, Brent had like the name Barrett which I detested so Hunter was the second choice we went with. His middle name is James which is Brent's deceased father's name.

With Dalton, there were four of us pregnant at the same time in my family. My cousin had said if they were having a boy, they wanted to name him Dalton. Well, they all found out they were having girls and I was having a boy, so she said I could have the name. His middle name is Keith after my dad.

When I was pregnant with the fourth one, I found out this one was another boy so I was very diligent on finding a name that would go with the other boys. I absolutely loved the name Lincoln but I already had an "L" name so we thought of Wyatt and Kaden. However, I did not like the "Why It" sound of Wyatt when you're having your fourth son and Kaden just didn't sound right with the other boys' names. So I ended up naming him Lincoln Brent which is perfect for him.

The fifth one was a surprise (a blessing) and before I found out the gender, my mom had said she heard a name on a movie that she liked and it was Nyah. I loved it and when I found out I was having a girl I said that's her name! Her middle name is AnnMarie after my mom, Mary Ann and Brent's mom Jo Ann.

Dalton named the fur baby Kobe after his fave basketball player at the time. He said if we get another dog, it's name would be Durant. lol.

Human, Fur or another kind?

Personality differences?

Do they get along?
bhahhahah...the dogs do!
How did you pick their names?

My kids are all adopted and came to us older, when they become legally adopted, we give them our lastname, they keep their first name, and pick their middle name. It is pretty cool how they come to the decision.

Human, Fur or another kind? Human and Fur

How many do you have? 4 girls - 2 daughters, 1 dog, 1 cat (The hubby is significantly outnumbered LOL)

Age differences between them? Elizabeth, 18 (human); Julia, almost 10 (human); Calla, German Shepherd dog, 4; Bella, Siberian Forest Cat, 2. Obviously, there's a huge age gap between my daughters. We didn't plan it that way, just had a very hard time getting our second.

Personality differences? Elizabeth is intense, highly motivated, rule follower, emotional, a bit self-focused. Julia is pretty laid back and even though she also gets straight A's like her big sister, does it without much effort. She has a very quick sense of humor and a big sensitivity to how others are feeling. They are pretty much opposites.

Do they get along? Although there was a time when Julia was little that they did not at all, they do get along very well now. Elizabeth is leaving for college in August and Julia is going to miss her SO MUCH.

How did you pick their names? My grandmother and DH's grandmother were both named Elizabeth, so there wasn't really another name we considered for her. Julia came from much discussion and list-making, basically process of elimination. Our dog's litter was a C litter, which is a tradition in GSD kennels that all the puppies start with that letter. So, her name had to start with a C. She's Calla Lily...it was a bit of an homage to The Lilypad. Our youngest daughter named the cat, Bella.

Human, Fur or another kind?

Human and furbaby.

How many do you have?

2 kiddos, Olivia and Daniel. 1 cat, Holly Belle

Age differences between them?

8 years between Olivia and Daniel

Personality differences?

Olivia is more reserved and Daniel is more outgoing, but overall, they are similar

Do they get along?

Yes, they get along famously!

How did you pick their names?

I wanted to name Olivia "Vivien" after Vivien Leigh, who played Scarlett in Gone With The Wind. But hubby said no, because all he could think of was the character in Pretty Woman played by Julia Roberts . . . and he wasn't having his daughter named after a prostitute. LOL So I compromised and named her Olivia after Olivia de Havilland, who played Melanie in Gone With The Wind. Olivia is also the feminine form of Oliver, and that's my maternal grandfather's name. Her middle name is my middle name.

I let Jay take primary responsibility for naming Daniel. He wanted a Biblical name and we had a hard time choosing. We had narrowed it down to Daniel and a few others. We went to the hospital for some testing while I was pregnant, and Jay had to wait. On the bench where he went to sit down, someone had left a Bible study about the book of Daniel. He showed it to me when I came out, and I was like, huh, maybe Daniel's a good name, right? Hee Hee. And his middle name is from Jay's paternal grandfather.

Human, Fur or another kind? 2 kids, 1 dog
How many do you have? 2 kids, 1 dog
Age differences between them? My daughter is 8 & my son is 5 (they are 3 years & 30 days apart- apparently I can only have march babies ;) ) Our English Bulldog Lucy is 2 1/2 yrs old.
Personality differences? My daughter is very much a first born, type-A, planny plannerson (just like me & her daddy). She is a worrier, a perfect student, a bit sassy & sarcastic, has a great sense of humor and an animal lover. My son is way more laid back, doesn't mind following the crowd but also is very quick witted & an animal lover.
Do they get along? They get along great & play very well with each other- even the dog too- but boy do they bicker & argue over the STUPIDEST stuff! ;)
How did you pick their names? My daughter is Hayden Ramona- Hayden was the ONLY girl name that my hubby & I agreed on and Ramona was my grandma's name. Our son is Declan Neal- Declan was another that we both actually liked- even though a lot of our family thought we totally just made it up. I had to email my mom the info about that name before she believed me! We heard it from a coworker & thought it went well with Hayden & our (this much) Irish heritage. Neal is my hubby's middle name as well as his dad's name. Our English Bulldog is Lucy because when my daughter was little & played 'the puppy game' she was always a puppy named Lucy. She instantly wanted lucy to be lucy or sprinkles. I'm glad we chose Lucy! :)

Wow... that is an interesting story!

I love reading all about everyone's kiddos (fur or otherwise). :)

Human, Fur or another kind? Human kids

How many do you have? 1 Boy and 1 Girl

Age differences between them? There's about 2 1/2 years between them. Maybe a little less than that.

Personality differences? Definite differences in personality. The boy child is quieter and more reserved and the girl child is strong willed and full of life. They both are very friendly and can start up conversations with anyone willing to listen.

Do they get along? Most of the time they do get along. It's only when my DD wants her brother to play with her and he isn't in the mood to be with others that it gets dicey. When they do play it's a good thing. No bickering for the most part.

How did you pick their names? My husband is a Jr. so when we found out we were having a boy he wanted a Loney Childress III. I'm not one for tradition is passing along the same name. Never grew up with that in my family. So, we had a hard time deciding on a name. I wanted Jerrod, he hated that. We were discussing books we've both read and liked. Peirs Anthony Xanth series came up and the only book I'd read was Crewel Lye. The Hero in that book was named Jordan so we decided to name our son Jordan Loney. :D

My daughter was even harder to come up with a name for. We discussed so many and nothing sounded right. We were visiting my parents and my mom was talking about having twin girls named Melody and Harmony. We loved them both, but since we weren't having twins (thank goodness) we decided to name our daughter Melody. We are both musically inclined so it just fit right. I wanted to have a middle name that was related to my name. Since my name means Child born at Christmas I saw the name Noelle and decided that would be perfect. So we have our Melody Noelle. :D

Human, Fur or another kind? both :)
How many do you have? 2 kids, 2 dogs
Age differences between them? older son turns 8 in August, the younger turns 1 in August
Personality differences? too soon to tell really but it seems they will turn pretty opposite :)
Do they get along? Filip was the only child for quite some time so he adores Adam and Adam adores him. Hope this lasts!
How did you pick their names? both me and hubby liked Filip so this was quite easy, now Filip picked a name for his brother and we both loved it and agreed :)

Human, Fur or another kind? Human and thinks he is human and doesn't realize he is a dog!
How many do you have? 1 I married (seriously biggest kid I have), 3 I birthed (BBG), and 1 fur
Age differences between them? 42 hehehe:rollin17 (in 2 weeks) 14, and 10 Fur is 7
Personality differences? Q (16) is the witty smart alec gamer, Ty (14) is sensitive and mechanical, T (10) alternates between social butterfly and drama queen
Do they get along? That varies by the moment. They are the first to stick up for each other, but fight like cats and dogs over the stupidest things.
How did you pick their names? My firstborn son was going to be Quentin no matter what, it's my grampa's name and always been my favorite boys name ever. God thing DH was ok with it. Second time around I wanted Kyler or Kaleb for a boy and DH was having none of that, and we couldn't agree. When he was about 10 hours old we were still discussing t and DH said Tyler was ok, but not Kyler, I said fine whatever, so he ran with it. I still am not sold on it (14 years later) because there are 4 Tylers in his grade. When I was pregnant with both boys, we could never agre on a girls name EVER! When Tyler was about 3 weeks old we were watching Jay Leno and he had family with a little girlom it. He said her name and DH and I looked at each other and both said we loved the name. I had no clue how to spell it but made it up and wrote it on a dry erase board on our fridge. I erased the name Teanna (TEE ann uh) from that board 3 1/2 years later on the day we brought her home from the hospital!

loving this post - all so interesting!
Human, Fur or another kind? both
How many do you have? 3 human (plus a couple who live with us and call me Mum - in fact that was my nickname at uni before I even had kids) and 1 ginger cat
Age differences between them? oldest son is nearly 24, next is my daughter, she's 19 and our youngest is 13
Personality differences? Our two boys, 10 years apart could nearly be twins if personality counts for that sort of thing. Very quiet and polite in company but sarcastic and dry witted when with family. Our daughter is so like her father - loud and self confident, she likes to get her own way but also will do the hard work to get what she wants
Do they get along? surprisingly well considering the age differences. they will all still happily travel with us and we still do family activities togeher - they may never, ever move out (groan)
How did you pick their names? Our eldest was chosen form a baby names book, and yep, Matthew was the most popular name that year - his third name is Dylan after Bob Dylan - husband is a big fan. Our daughter was a name we liked
- Meaghan (and I loved Little Women so any of Meg, Amy, Jo or Beth would have suited me) and her middle name is Elizabeth, all the women on my side of the family have their eldest daughter with the middle name of Elizabeth, Luckily it was my MIL's middle name as well. By the time Henry came around, we wanted something traditional but a bit different. It was going to be either George or Henry and Henry won out.

Lovin' this thread!

Human, Fur or another kind?
2 human boys, 2 fur (3rd being adopted in August) and 1 reptile.

Age differences between them?
Caleb is almost 11, Mathieu is almost 9, Mykah (cat) is 13, Koda (dog) is 6, Dexter/Charlie (kitten, undecided) is 4 weeks and Reggie (Bearded Dragon) is about 8 months old.

Do they get along?
Most of the time! lol!

How did you pick their names?

I really wanted good strong French names for my boys so Caleb and Mathieu is was. The rest were chosen by either myself or family decision. The Bearded Dragon was completely Caleb's choice since he belongs to him and the kitten is Mathieu's choice but we don't have him yet. :)
