Junk Room | Pad Patter 4.5

My craft room became the dumping grounds when I went digi. Everyone dumps anything they don't want in their room in there. I usually clean it out every year or so and donate to goodwill. It really needs cleaned again. My oldest DD is temporarily home from her mission so I'll probably convince her to help me clean it out and reorganize when she starts getting bored. The garage is isn't too bad. I organized all the Halloween and Christmas stuff last year. Hubby's tool bench and camping stuff could use a clean out but I'm not going there. I've cleaned it before and gotten rid of stuff I wasn't supposed too. :giggle

It feels like my entire house is that JUNK room. I have started to work a room at a time but that took me nowhere because I get so overwhelmed. So, I am doing bits here and bits there.

For a long time that room was our office, on the first floor. It was easy to toss stuff in there and close the door. No one was really in there but us. But we've been slowly working on cleaning it out, since I've update the kitchen . . . then when THIS thing hit, and I had to work from home ... it became a much bigger priority. I took almost a week (two just to clean it out) to redo it. So . . . while most of the crap was donated or tossed, some simply migrated to the basement. That is the next big tackle at our house! Each week, we all hunt for a small bag of stuff to throw away from the basement . . . in about a year, it should be ready to paint HA!

Mine is the pantry. We have a decent size pantry and it ends up being the place we put all of the extra stuff. I have to clean it out about every 6 weeks just to make sure I can fit our food in there.

Right now I have a few bags for goodwill in there and it's driving me crazy...I have to climb over it to get to our freezer.

I have quite a few dump places and I really wish I could do some cleaning but working from home seems to drain my energy and after "work" is over all I want to do is sit on the couch and zone out.

i could have written exactly this!

It feels like as soon as i clear a space, someone else puts stuff on it! And i just keep moving junk between rooms at the moment (i can't drive to the charity shop to donate anything for who knows how long - so i have a few boxes of books and clothes and a coffee machine hanging around - it's making me a bit crazy).

Yes! Here people are leaving outside the charity places and there is talk that the places are going to get fined because of the "trash" on their doors. It's a mess because apparently people can't wait like you and I are doing and holding on to the stuff aside in the house.

Unfortunately, it's our guest room! And, it's in dire need of a clear-out since we're expecting guests when the craziness is past! And, a few of my favorite grill recipes:
Marinated Grilled Beef (Bulgogi)
Bulgogi is one of the best-known Korean foods. This version is prepared and grilled whole, then sliced.

1 ½ lbs. of beef (Flank, Sirloin, Tri Tip, whatever you prefer)
6 scallions, trimmed and thinly sliced
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
3 Tbl. Soy sauce
3 Tbl. Finely chopped peeled gingerroot (minced from a jar works also)
1 Tbl. Rice or cider vinegar
2 tsp. toasted sesame seeds
1 ½ tsp. vegetable oil
1 tsp. sugar

Generous grinding of black pepper
Score steak deeply about 1in. apart. Turn over and score other side (is ok if meat breaks into 2 or 3 pieces).
In a shallow dish (or gallon ziplock), combine remaining ingredients. Add the steak and turn to coat with marinade. Cover and marinate for at least 2 hours, or up to 8 hours (I’ve let it marinate overnight as well), turning from time to time.
Grill to desired doneness. Slice into thin strips and serve at once. Suggested sides: crisp-tender steamed broccoli and Jasmine rice w/garlic, chicken broth and cilantro.

Grilled Peaches & Berries
3 ripe medium-sized peaches, halved & pitted
1 cup fresh blueberries
2 T. brown sugar
2 T. butter
1 T. lemon juice

Place peach halves cut side up, top with blueberries, brown sugar, butter, and lemon juice.
Grill, covered, over medium-low heat for 18-20 or until tender.
We like this served over vanilla ice cream.
Recipe is for grilling in foil packets, but I prefer to avoid the foil and use cast iron on BBQ or oven.

"At the time, my husband wondered why I didn't wait until the weather was warmer with all the trips we made to donation sites, but I got to tell you that I'm glad I got most everything donated before the lock down."

Oh if only! I feel our house could qualify right now with all the things that could have gone to a new home before...
