Hey there friends! Hard to believe it's already June, but here I am with the June Style challenge! I saw a question in the forums recently about element clusters and how to do them, and I thought that would be a great style for everyone to try this month. I love element clusters for their versatility - they work really well for both "filled up" and white space pages. I used to cluster a lot on my early pages, but have moved away from them on my more recent pages, so this was a lot of fun for me, to keep adding more goodies! Your challenge - create a page with an element cluster using at least 12 different elements, all piled together into one single cluster. My page below uses products from The Journey collection from the fabulous Dawn Inskip, who joins The Lilypad June 3 as our newest resident designer!! Yay! My cluster is made from 16 different elements: Photo, vellum, sticky note, two tags, frame, 4 flowers, berry branch, two leaves, solid tape, transparent tape and a bow: Please remember the monthly challenge rules: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread. The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a guest spot on the Lilypad Creative Team! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges). Now, get out your most fabulous elements, and show me some clustering!
yes indeed to both!!! LOVE Dawn and love this challenge!!!! here is my page, forgot to put the date in the tag, but I'm determined this month to make it to all challenges!
I read this & blurted out "12?!" My husband shrugged "What's wrong with that?" My eyes rolled, "3 Barn, I struggle with 3!" Thus begins my Wednesday. I'm doing this challenge 1st. Truly a challenge for me, Julie.
Oh no! I have the same thoughts as @jesskab I can't cluster to save my life! I've done every challenge this year though, so I won't let 12 elements hold me back!!
Don't be intimidated by the cluster! One thing that helps me a lot is to shadow as I place things, so I can see the distinction between the elements as they go, and as I move them around. And yes, I absolutely move things up, down all around, over and over, until I find just the right spot!
Cynthia - I don't know how you do it. I am amazed.. Not so good at clustering. I have to add more... Ok - its 14 on the photo and 8 on the other side. I hope this is enough..
I always admire the others' clustering, but I for one couldn't cluster my way out of a paper bag... I gave it my best shot. It is a wide spread cluster, but it's all there, all 17 layers.
I think I need to go read the post you mentioned! I stink at clusters! To me, mine look forced, and fake
