    Day 9 | Combine 2 Templates

    Hello lovely LILYPADers and MOCers,

Welcome to day NINE of MOC3 - Can you believe how fast this month is disappearing away from us already? We're nearly a third of the way through!

Last year one of my favourite challenges was the 'Combine 2 Templates' challenge, so I'm thrilled to be here to host it this year. Two of our wonderful designers have been kind enough to prepare a pair of templates for us to use for toady's creation, so big thanks to both Jaimee and Heather! :happy

Combining templates is a really cool way to put a new spin on things you already have in your stash; and it's also a great way to challenge yourself to use things that you might not ordinarily have considered initially.

For this challenge you need to combine both of the templates provided and create yourself a new template from them to make a new layout. You can resize, twist, shrink, move, and move again... the only guideline is that we need to be able to see elements from both templates in your final layout!

To combine both of the templates into one layered document in Photoshop:

    1. Open both templates in separate windows.
    2. With the second template window floating above the first; select all of the layers in the second template.
    3. Click and drag all of the layers from the layers palette on the second template, right into the window containing the first template.

EDIT TO ADD: There is a tutorial thread on the forum's here, on how to do this too:
    https://the-lilypad.com/forums/showthread.php/30514-Merging-Templates-Making-them-work-for-you.

I had a go with these and this is what I came up with, using a photo from our recent holiday in Paris.

If you have any questions, then ask away - I just can't wait to see what you make! :beat

The rules: Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Please post your page in your page thread you created in this folder. You should have one post per completed challenge page. If you complete all 31 challenges, your thread should contain 31 posts. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean. You should also post your page here in this thread, and people can comment here if they wish. Pages should contain at least 75% current Lilypad product (currently for sale in the store from either permanent designers or guest designers).

Okay...I'm struggling here....always wanted to know how to do this, but can't figure it out....how do I open it in a "new window" I use PSE 10....perhaps it doesn't work in there?? When I open the templates they both open as two little 'tabs' in PSE....I can't open a second version of PSE so I don't know how to do a 'new window'

Then once I have the two tabs open..I can't figure out how to 'float' one template over the other...I can select the layers in one template but then I can't drag the layers to the other template....all I can do is drag the 'flat' image on top of the other....I'm lost....clearly I'm missing some important step for how to do this?? Can anyone help?? I guess I need more detailed step by step directions! Help!
