Thank you, @jk703 for this intriguing (and perplexing) challenge. I like learning new techniques and skills, especially if I feel successful using them. This technique has me on the down side of the learning curve! It has piqued my interest though and I intend to look for tutorials and work at masking with hopes of improving.

I could not get part of my picture to show up on top. I wanted the flower to stand out and tried to erase the paint on just the flower but could not get it to work. Fun challenge though! Will have to try this again and find out what I did wrong!

This was so much fun! I've done blending lots of times before, but I never thought to layer different masks with different blending modes on top of each other. It was a lot of fun to play with this!
