January 7 - Magazine Inspiration

Done! Magazines always make me think of decorating and cooking, so I knew exactly which photos I was going to use as soon as I saw the challenge. Thanks for the inspiration to get these scrapped!

I had the idea in place less than five minutes after I read this post, but here I am 18 hours later. I have a folder stuffed full of hand shots and I didn't want to use any of them, so I had to figure out how to take a pic of both my hands.

I just couldn't get it to work with my good camera, I need a way better tripod for that. I ended up using my phone, a box, my chin, and voice command to take the snap. My son came out at one point, while I was doing the box-chin bit and snarling "cheese" into the void - he got a kick out of it. Me, not so much.

But hey, I did it, yeah? I got a usable pic of both my hands, and a halfway decent magazine layout. I'll call it a win.

Thank you, thank you! This was so easy and fun to do! I needed that!

Wow! When planning the Arizona motorcyle trip, we were sure to include a stop at the Grand Canyon and are we glad we did so! We were in awe of the majestic beauty of layers of colors, the untamed landscape, and the just the sheer size of it. We visited the South Rim Visitor center where it was crazy busy with tourists. It was frustrating trying to walk around the area because everybody wanted to experience the same views, and then when the tourists brought out their selfie sticks we were like, Ok, time to go. But we didn’t let that ruin our enjoyment of this nature wonder. We drove along the canyon and stopped at roadside viewspots to take our pictures. As you can see it was a really windy day. After we left we both felt humbled by how amazing and beautiful our country is.

Hey There Everyone...I Loved This Challenge...I Am Still Trying To Figure Out The Day#5 Grid Pattern...So I Thought I Would Do This One First Because I Love Creating Graphic Bold Color Layouts...This Layout Is Based On A Magazine Spread I Saw Years Ago...I Can't Remember The Magazine...But It Was A Travel Magazine About Bright/Bold Tropical Locales...Bright,Big Bold Florals & Large Stand-Out Graphic Word Art & All The Photos Were Triangle-Shaped...This Was A Little Bit Of A Task Balancing All The Brights,Florals & Large Paint Splotches In The Back & Triangles Without The Use Of Shadows...While Maintaining The Large WA Standouts Without Making The Photos Look To Dull Or Make Them Disappear Behind All The Flowers & Paint Splotches...It Certainly Required A Lot Of Balance To Complete...But The Mostly White Background Was The Key...I Tried It With A Black Background & It Looked All Kinds Of Wrong...You Wouldn't Think So...But It Did...& Then I Applied My Printed Paper & Changed The Color & Then Proceeded To Apply All Of My Large Paint Splotches...And Just Continued To Layer...Until I Was Satisfied With The Size & Perspective Of Everything...And Just To Be Clear...I Did Not Use Any Shadowing Here Whatsoever As Per The Rules Of This Challenge...
