My pup was sleeping on her bed on the dark floor & in front of the gray wall- I had to close the blinds to get the background dark! Thanks for the fun challenge! **Just realized we couldn't do b/w pics- so off to fix...
My black kitty has only one eye. If she would have coorperated, her one eye shines the most beautiful yellow. I tried my best, but she was too tired. She likes to sit in a black computer chair next to me in my computer room.
I wish I had more time to work on this. I tried two different subjects and liked both of them. I shot these on a black muff and used the Portrait Mode on my iPhone. (I had to clean up the cat hair--I have white cats!)
This is my favorite way to take photos! I loved taking pictures in this style for newborn pictures. I always carried a very large soft black hoodie and always asked the Mom to wear it with the baby mostly nudie cutie. They always loved the images even when they thought they would be too dark. It brings out a natural softness. I did it quick and dirty with my little girl. I put her in a large black hoodie, hung a black skirt over a nightstand, put another black hoodie on the floor and had her lay down with her iPad in front of her!
Here's mine. I chose to take a photo of the cicada I inherited when my grandmother passed away. I happened to be doing it in the evening, so I closed the door, didn't turn the light on, placed it on a back table, held my iPad to create light onto the cicada and used the suggested technique to lower the exposure. This was SO hard, as I'm a "light & bright" photo taker.. I kept upping the brightness in my phone, then reminding myself that the point was for it to be dark.. Hope it's okay...

Well, this was a bit different: on my knees in a dark corner! I like the results, but I'm gonna have to find a set up that's easier on the knees!
I was sitting outside waiting for a soccer game to start when I read the prompt for this day - and decided to try and take a picture in the shadows with the airpod case just sitting on the turf field - it was almost black for the background in camera, then I adjust the contrast/blacks in LR
Here is my page Ashley! What a fun challenge! I took this photo of Bella while she was watching a movie in her lounge last night. The room was nice and dark and the light from the TV cast a lovely glow over her.
I didn't see where there were any restrictions on using a mask with the photo, so hopefully that's okay. That black background took over more than a few mask attempts...
