I Don't Have Photoshop...I Tried Some Similar Effects To My Chosen Photo...Here Is The Result...Would This Be Acceptable?...
Well, that was fun! I tried 3 different pictures before I did one that I liked enough to scrap! here's the original pic
This was so much fun! I am Never going to remember to do this on another layout. hahaha! And I just saw somebody used content aware and I did, too!!! my original photo (slightly different than the small photo in the layout):
Love you!!!!!! Sop so happy to see you scrapping MOC!!! I ll make sometime to go to your gallery!!!!! <3 the trick with this one is to choose the right photo, landscapes are best I think, first one I did a photo of Sarita and didn't;t quiet work!!!! you ll be great Kate!!!!
This is the photo I used for the geometric technique. My final step was to use a "difference" blend mode to get the blues in the final piece.
wOw people!!!!!! IU may need to make a Froggy Faves thread just for this challenge!!!! awesome pages!!!! Jenn, you are awesome!!! @jk703
thanks so much for this Jenn - your steps made it easy and i love the effect! original was blurry and dark anyway (no flash allowed) but the colours were good and they're the bottom row of windows from the (less blurry!) photo i used in the lower left spot on the template
There are some amazing examples of this technique - I love how effective it is and simple too (PSE user here). The hardest thing was getting the theme/correct photo.
1-22-18 Technique Challenge Here are the requirements for the challenge: 1. Create a geometric mosaic out of an image. The geometric mosaic can be square, circle, triangle or irregular like my example. 2. The geometric mosaic should take up at least 1/4th of your layout. No ATC's will be accepted. 3. Post the original image in this thread, along with your completed layout. 4. You must use scrap product on your page; you cannot have JUST a photograph. Remember to follow the 75% current product rule (see below). I used a photo my daughter took this past summer in Chicago at Lincoln Park... Okay the Gimp mosaic technique was so incredibly simple but I just couldn't stand the way it looked. No matter what I did I couldn't get rid of the blacks lines. Which, I know that would have been perfectly acceptable but it just didn't look as good. I wanted those smooth, blendy edges, so I just gave up and downloaded Photoshop. Which, probably not a wise move because oh man I finally get why so many people swear by it. I have a feeling I'm going to be bummed when the trial period is over. Boo. Anyway. I spent the day playing with pictures and layouts (one of which was kind of cool, half the page was a regular layout, the other half was a mirror image of it with every part crystallized; as much as I like the idea I just wasn't doing it justice so it waits until a later day.) This is the pic I finally settled on:
Thanks for a new trick that I would never have tried otherwise! Also, thanks for helping me get these photos scrapped - I've been sitting on them for a while now, not sure how to scrap them, but I really like how my page turned out! First, my original photo:
