Do you have to have everything in order or are you neat as a pin?

My desk is organized chaos! (that's my story and I'm sticking to it).

I tend to be a stacker of papers, but can usually put my hands on things when I need them. Now, I can't tell anyone else where to find something, but I can usually find it. Weird, right?

I am currently sitting at my desk in my office at work (at lunch) and I'm staring at 3 different piles of stuff to go through. My desk at home is no better and my creative space is a red.hot.mess. I think if I got organized I may be happier... or not :giggle

So how about you? Bonus points for photos!

I am the same as you, but it comes to a p[oint when I need to tidy up...to me, the state of my mind reflects into what my environment is.....like the room, the whole house, if it is getting too messy or dirty...,means am borderline having a fit... LOL I ll take some photos tomorrow with light, but I'm quiet sure there are Los with the mess behind LOL

Neat. I work better and more efficiently this way. It is not for everyone... sometimes piles are how people remember where things are. My uncles is this type of person - he has a room full of medical reports and records. You ask him for something, and you have it right away.

My co-worker even says when my desk is chaos to me, it's neat, lol!

Another vote for organized chaos right now, but it's just about to the point where I'm going to have to take a day to clear everything out & put it back into some sort of order, then I'll spend the next 6-8 months getting to the chaos stage again.

I'm another in the organized chaos camp. Lately, I've had so much going on, I haven't had time to get things under control to get back to my typical normal mess. And it is too horrific for a picture. Right now, I have a paper plate filled with gold glitter and a glittered word that is balancing on my set of headphones (to my left). That is next to two sets of hinges, a voter's guide, tissue paper chrysanthemums, my project notebook, a bag of brushes, my sunglasses and a tape measure. On my right is a bottle of glue, salt & pepper shakers, a fun-size Butterfinger, an external hard drive, an empty envelope, a big grey Lego piece, and a bottle of gold glitter. Chaos.

My desk is clean and empty. There is a small pile of papers on top of my printer and some pens on my desk but that's about it. It works best for me. If it's a mess, I wouldn't sit down. But it definitely gets messy every once in a while!

Don't ask me about my kitchen table though.

I think I solved the problem before chaos. I don't have a work desk. I live in my laptop on the couch. I think It's easy way to be neat and clean. :)

messy and chaos...but I find everything:giggle
And my "real" working desk is my laptop on the couch...

My desk at work is pretty tidy. I do usually have stacks of papers and drawings in piles when I get really busy, but it's not too messy. At home is a whole different story. My desk is where everybody puts things that they want me to look at or take care of and I have my only notes and projects piled up. I'll have to take a picture tonight when I get home. It's especially disastrous right now.

Just for you guys, I took two pictures of my office. It looks opposite of how it should be, in my opinion. I work from home most of the time, but need to be able to pack it up and go into the office once or twice a week, so my work stuff is really not that bad (laptop, cords, keyboard, mouse, pen and pads of papers for notes-- I can always find what I need in my notes, and they all stay in my laptop bag). But... my home stuff gets in the way when I'm working on the desk, so it makes its way to the work-at-home table in there, in various piles and boxes. And, the rest of the room is piles and piles of stuff I need to organize, file, trash, etc... Like Karen, everything goes to the office that I need to go through, or kids toys that get taken away, or my craft stuff. :( there's no room to actually create in there, so my physical craftiness has been piled in there somewhere. :(

I don't even want to show you a photo of my desk. Or my sewing table. Or my dining room table.

Desks and tables in my house become the holder of all things that no one wants to put away.

For me, my desk is chaos, which I can use however. But if others are looking for what .... it will be harder :)

I have an enormous U shaped desk at work with my computer right in the middle. Right now there are 13 separate "piles" on the surface along with all the normal office supply things, the cash drawers, photos, telephone, adding machine, calendar, etc. I can normally find what I'm looking for, but I think that's more practice.

Desk? What desk? I haven't seen the surface in ages. I am going with organized chaos as well. I read somewhere that just because it's messy doesn't mean it's disorganized. If you can lay your hands on what you are looking for within a minute, then what you are doing is working for you. My "controlled chaos" may look messy... but at least 90% of the time I can find what I am looking for rather quickly.

My computer desk is OK (only because I just cleaned it the other day). There are a few things on it but they always stay there. I am working on a hybrid project right now so my craft desk is a hot mess right now!!

my desk at work and home looks very neat and organized, but I will make a very neatly stacked pile of unrelated stuff just so it has that visual neatness... I'd say my work style is organized chaos, so my desk organization suits.

I am scary organized. For the most part, I have to work in relative neatness, and I have a hard time leaving at the end of the day if my desk is a disaster, so I am constantly sorting things and re-stacking the piles.

Well, it is a constant change, hahaha! Mostly, I keep it fairly neat then I will start on a project that will be a work in chaos! I think I prefer it neat - but that doesn't sound very creative of me :stash

Right now mine is MESSY! and I HATE it!! It's mostly a bunch of fliers from school all stacked around - stuff I keep meaning to handle and then toss but haven't had time.

I like a clear surface…pretty soon It will drive me crazy enough that I'll get rid of it in one fell swoop and probably end up missing something important. I need a system...
