A few hours ago I was cutting it fine on a job application (couldn't do it much earlier as I had a health flare up the last few days) and my internet on my desktop was cutting out constantly to the point I had to give up on the application...think disconnections every few seconds yet it was working absolutely fine on my phone - I had been dealing with this off and on since January. My mum heard me getting more and more frustrated so came in to see what the problem was. I explained it to her and she said have you asked your friend who knows about computers and I said yes with my friends response being to contact my internet provider....I hadn't cause I was almost positive it was something to do with my own set up since I could use internet some of the time. I then said it's definitely worse when the weather is either very rainy or windy (which it was tonight) so I kind of thought that I'd wait and see if it works later (cause it's not a constant issue). I had thought maybe something in my PC had come loose but that hadn't made sense either cause we thought if that was the case I'd have no internet at all on my computer. My mum (who has zero computer technical knowledge) surveyed things and asked how does the signal get from the modem on the other side of the room to my computer (she often thinks laterally/out of the box - it's one advantage of her having ADHD).I said I'm not sure. My mum then moved one box that was 40cm/16in that was between the two locations, problem solved! Mum then asked me how much do computer technicians charge?....

At least I can now hopefully download all of the digi goodies that keep failing (it's not been uncommon for it to take 2-3 if not more tries to get downloads to download properly) and scrap to my heart's content.

Way to go mum!

Exactly....I was just thinking purely technically so wouldn't have probably come up with that solution....if I hadn't in 6 months, I probably wouldn't have.

Wahoo mum! :byay

Now I’m wondering, what was in the box that would interrupt your Wi-Fi signal?

It had a few odds and ends that I had put away for whenever I end up leaving home so nothing of interest for right now - It was more that it was the top thing on a stack and the last thing that had been put there. Even though we have space under our house for storage, it's not secure as such due to the design of the space and thanks to the intruder & trespasser episodes of years gone by we don't put anything of value down there that can be stored inside incase it gets stolen. So for now I have stacks of boxes at times in my room while the spare room gets organised.

I'm glad it's finally figured out! Here's to hoping it stays speedy for you!

Yay mum! My problems 2 years ago was a very old computer. When I switched stores and was in the process of uploading things to my shop things were so slow and I had to wait the night to finish up something. When my wifi connection finally broke completely I had to move things from hubby' computer. I couldn't believe how fast things would go through. Aaaaaalllll the time wasted on my store uploading was just unbelievable. I would have never thought of that and I wish someone would have had your mum's brain at that time lol
Glad you are enjoying internet much better now!

YAY for your mum!!!

If the storage box has pots and pans in it they might have been disrupting the signal. Hope your signal stays strong and connected going forward.

No pots & pans but good to know for the future incase it happens again
