I have an instagram acct mainly for viewing other people rather than posting myself. I have set it so that I have to accept/decline followers but today in about the space of 12 hours have been hit with about 20 spam/unknown requests. Any ideas on how to stop the requests apart from deleting? Im so close to deactivating/deleting my acct due to frustration but would rather not. Right now I’m just deleting the requests but I keep getting more.
 
I don't think there's anything you can do except decline them. Or you could just ignore them. IDK if they'll disappear on their own after a certain amount of time, although that would be nice, wouldn't it? And hopefully it was just some weird day where you got a lot of requests and they slow down again for you.
 
Just decline the requests. I get them all the time. FB is flooding Instagram all over FB (they own Instagram now) and they're trying to match people up like they do on FB. I've been on Instagram since it started and it was never like that before FB bought them. It's just something you have to put up with. I don't pay any attention to it -
 
Thanks girls, Ive had other iffy requests but the sheer number today has been through the roof - since I wrote the post another 5 have come through. I too am hoping its just a bad day

I've been having random men who I don't know request to follow me. Of course, I decline them. This is why it pays to have a private account. I've had as many as 10 a day. I guess they're "trolling" like it's a dating site. <insert eyeroll>
 
Seems to have settled down today - only one semi random request which I kind of understand. As long as it’s not lewd requests from Arabian princes and the like i’m ok with it. It was just the sheer volume yesterday but i’ve blockec them now.
 
I have 18 new requests from men today. If I go to their feeds, they're all selfies, and a lot of them are shirtless. Duh..........I don't think so.

I had kept mine private for a long time, but needed to make it public for another site. I used to get those "random men" follow requests (the guys with 1 post and nothing else <definite eyeroll!> I have so many random followers now it's ridiculous. I think I need to go back to private!
