Does anyone else fall into a scrapping slump after completing an album? I rushed to complete two 90-page books to print during the big Shutterfly sale, and I think I scrapped myself out. I was able to make a lot of the needed pages during MOC (yay!), which really helped me make some fun pages out of my creative process. Now I find myself not scrapping and trying to catch up on all the household stuff I ignored. :peekin

Has anyone else experienced a post-album completion slump? Or is it just lonely old me?

I have never done an album but definitely find myself in a slump on occasion. When that happens I reach for a template it allows my brain to rest without over thinking the design too much. Thank goodness for templates hey!

Have fun cleaning, I bet you’ll find that desire to scrap again after the house is in order, works for me everytime too hehe

Yes, it happens to me! I think it's good to take a break from creating to give our heart and mind a refresh. I often find that after doing the needful things (housework, groceries, etc.) that I get the urge to start creating again.

You made a TON of layouts - what an awesome goal that you accomplished - and in your case it's definitely normal to find yourself a bit afloat and wondering what to do next. Maybe you should start looking at your photos and deciding what your next album will be . . . gathering kits, editing photos, etc.?

Good luck!

I have 4 albums going on right now. Haven't worked on 2 of them in a long while (vacation ones) and we leave on vacation in 2 days. Yikes!! I so want to finish 2017 so I can focus on the vacation ones and 2018.

Organizing my content almost always gets me out of a slump as I see cool stuff I forgot I had. Sometimes I hit a wall with the next set of photos to scrap in an album. Having multiple albums in the works helps with that too. I also like to make the enamel pins or try new techniques - so not really making a page, but still playing in the software often restarts me.

But yes, Feb was slow in the scrapping department for me. Probably also overwhelmed by selling GS cookies for 9 hours a week for the past 4 weeks on top of all the usual stuff. Tomorrow is the last booth, so it is almost done.

Like @BevG mentioned, I organize my stash (or even just look through it) for some inspo. And I do think completing an album can cause a weird mojo loss. Maybe our brains need to reset after all that work? IDK.

I'm in the same boat as you, Jan. I have no motivation and am barely keeping up my CT duties. We're still having family drama here and it's just consuming everything. It's hard to scrap happy things when part of you is dying inside.

I'm sorry Donna! Family drama is the worst. I hope things can turn around a little for you soon!

Yes.
I also fall into a cooking slump after cooking a bunch of stuff to freeze. A cleaning slump after deep cleaning and/or decluttering and/or organizing a bunch of stuff. I fall into a lot of slumps after "binging" on an activity. I think it's normal. At least it is for me!

I scrapped a lot in December and January. Not a single page in February. Had to focus on getting 3 rooms cleaned out so new flooring could be installed. Last room is getting done Friday. Almost everything is out except the computer. Have to tear it down tomorrow night. No way I'm keeping it in here with guys throwing around old carpet and new laminate! I'll also be without internet for the time they are here since the cable modem is in this room as well.

Hopefully when that is done Friday and I get the computer back together and stuff setup, I can start scrapping again.

I've been in a scrappin slump too, partly because of my carpal tunnel and partly because I scrapped myself out in December and January. Two 90-page books is amazing. I'm still procrastinating my son's mission book. He comes home in July and I have almost 2 years worth of photos to scrap. Please send all your quick scrappin tips and tricks my way.

It's this time of year I always get in a slump.
I just don't feel like scrapping and it's a huge task to try and keep my PL up to date (which I'm totes behind on though..).

Maybe do something completely different to find your groove back?
May I suggest:

Reading's always good! I hate cleaning, so that really is the last resort :backing

I go through my photos too, and I have 2 Pinterest boards that I use to get inspired:
1. DigiScrap Layout Ideas
2. DigiScrap Inspiration

And my 3rd option is an ACDSee folder with layouts for inspiration. I use all 3 of those A LOT!

I just finished 2 photo albums a while ago. Now waiting for the March challenges, but now that I read this thread I might begin another album too. Still a few behind..... :agree

Oh you're definitely not alone! I also need a bit of a break after a huge scrapping binge. Like after MOC is over I need to put my house and everything else back in order. I don't really try to push it, I just let myself have a small break and the urge to scrap usually just appears again after a bit. Sometimes I just have to dive into a page after a week or so and then I'll manage to roll out of a slump that way too.

Usually by biggest problem is that I have many other creative endeavors going at any one given time, so I'll scrap for awhile, then I'll go paint/art journal for awhile and then sometimes I'll even throw in a book or a crochet project for awhile. I kind of let myself go with what's inspiring me or calling to me at any given time. :) I know you understand the crochet part! :agree

I'm just in a slump. Scrapping + life slump. So I totally get it.
