Don't know how many followers of Dave Ramsey we have around here, but I just have to share this with you!
Our old bedroom TV went kaput a couple of months ago and with Christmas right around the corner we didn't want to shell out the money for a new one. Let me tell you, with all of the incredible sales during the holidays it was really hard to resist. But resist we did. DH and I had talked about it and agreed on a size, brand and how much we wanted to pay for one. We found one we wanted at Best Buy. It was on sale, but still $50 over what we wanted to pay. Soooo...today on my lunch break, cash in hand, I walked in to Best Buy and spoke with a customer service rep. Here's the condensed run-down of our convo:
I told him the TV I wanted and what I was willing to pay $300 for it and asked him very politely if he could do that.
CSR: "Probably not."
me: "Can you ask?"
CSR: "Sure."
enter supervisor and I repeated what I had told the CSR
super: "Did you see in on sale somewhere else?"
me: "No sir, I just would like to give you my business."
super: "Let's see what we can do."
me: "Great!"
super on computer: "That TV normally sells for $399.99 and it's on sale for $349.99"
me: "Yes, I am aware of that."
super: "Wow! I see that the sale price is even below our cost right now."
me: "Wow indeed!"
super and CSR converse and play on the computer for about a minute
super: "Sure, we can do that for you just this once." wink wink (yes, he winked at me)
me: "Fantastic! Thank you so much!"
They then of course try to sell me the extended warranty and various cables. I politely declined and they laughed and said I was one tough cookie.
I cannot even begin to tell you the adrenaline rush I experienced! I was fully prepared to be turned down and walk away to live another day without a bedroom TV. I was downright giddy when I called my DH and then my mom to relay the story. Thank you, Dave Ramsey!!!!
