I Did it! My First Hybrid Page!

On one of my biggest (and fattest) art journals, I ended up cutting the spine and making it lay flat again using gaffer's tape. It's super strong adhesive on strong fabric tape that "gaffer's" use on movie sets to tape cords to the floors of movie sets... but works great in book binding too. I'll have to hunt up some pictures of that process if anyone is interested. That was on a moleskine type journal with a covers like a hard back book.

I am very interested in that tape! I adore creating journals from scratch. So any ideas and products that can help with the "book binding" process is VERY welcomed!

my book is hardcover. Mistake. I am thinking I should have gone with a 2 ring with removable pages. Love and learn, right?

Lol! I speak for self, but I have a variety of journals! As time goes by I think your eyes will be on the lookout for "sales." And when you see a journal at 50% off you'll be like "I have to have that!"

I use that gummed packing tape - it's reinforced with string and you have to wet the one side to adhere it to make handmade junk journals, I use an old book cover and then put my own misc papers inside it.

Don't worry about bulky! It should be whatever makes your happy or gives you the feels at that moment.

Yes, me too! For the next time, I think I'll want to make my own! I love the artsy way they look rather than the stodgy masculine thing I got! LOL

Yahoo! Look at you go! I love how it turned out and I love the branches... my art journals tend to get super thick too because I want to add all the things on my pages. :giggle I love the fun pockets full of goodies! :D

I wanted to pile much more on it, but I just couldn't find the right things!

I am squealing with delight here!!! My heart is happy AJ hybrid is happening here at TLP!

Sooooo many moons ago (like probably over 12 years ago) I started a travel and ticket journal. Only 1 page in - ha! But, that was the life of a Soldier - start something new, have to move, change jobs, go to war, yadayada. I never got past page 1 - one of the main reason I went digital.

BUT...what I really want to share is...it is possible to attach and use VERY dimensional elements in a journal.

In the journal above, I have metal (the keyhole), I have a twig (much like Susie), and I have chipboard alphas. And I am pretty sure that was a Rebecca McMean gal - although I don't know which.
:bk

Hopefully we can get this place hopping!!! LOL I would love to see a video of your entire book - what you showed was amazing!
