I can NOT handle this!

It's funny you say this because I just heard one of my old favorite songs from the 80s on the radio this morning and when I looked down it was an Oldies station. {gasp} :giggle

80s was just yesterday, right?
I had a shock when I realized one of my friends were born the year I was 28. :faint2

I always get reminded how old I am when I'm on social media and there are posts about "this song or movie is such and such old this year!!" :backing

Two of my close friends that I met thru scrapbooking are much younger than me. The mother of one of them is only a couple years older than me. Had I had a kid at 17, the other one could be my child!

Now, about those old songs.... I'm stuck in the 60's/70's!

Right there with you, along with some songs from the 40s/50s.

I do get a kick out of it when I catch my grandsons (29 and 19) listening to the same songs I listened to in high school.

There were a lot a good songs when we were in school. I hear Hang On Sloopy a lot... OSU Band plays it at all games, starting way back in 1965. It became the official "rock" song of Ohio State in 1985.

I still have some of the LP's that my parents accumulated in the 50's/60's (they married 1954). Remember the Firestone Presents Christmas albums? I've got volumes 2 through 4. They were compilation albums from various artists of Christmas songs.

I don't think my parents owned a record player/stereo system when I was a kid ... I have no memories of them ever playing music. Now my grandfather had quite the record collection, and I still have my small collection of 45s and LPs from my teen years, plus a bright yellow mini (45 sized) 78 of Jesus Loves Me.

Time flies! I loved from them "how deep is your love", "relight my fire", "patience" and of course "back for good".

I actually know that song, so theirs that, lol. I seem to be in the minority tho. I live in the states too so that's weird. I almost died when I saw that Depeche Mode Violator and NIN Pretty hate machine were THIRTY FIVE YEARS OLD.

Time flies

Last year ABBAs Waterloo was 50 years old. Which means, on Sunday, it will be 51 years old. I remember the exact date, because it's on our anniversary. It's really weird to have 50 year old memories. I remember when ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest with Waterloo. I remember dancing in front of the TV, I loved that song.

I know Take That because my mom loved them lol I don't remember if she bought a cassette tape or a CD, but she would always play their songs during weekends while doing house chores hahaha
And Michael Learns to Rock! :giggle

I still love Waterloo ... it played on the radio when my xDH was stationed in Germany. So I love both the English (played on the American radio station) and the German version (played on German radio stations) of the song. I have both versions in my iTunes collection.

Oh, I've never heard the German version. I've heard the Swedish one though. :agree

Swedish, German, French and English. I just looked at the iTunes store and there's a 50th anniversary release (April 5, 2024) with all four versions on it for $3.99. Might have to buy it ... turns out I only have the German version in my iTunes.

Found the German version on Youtube. Love it!

Wasn't Take That big in the US? Best boy band ever.
I guess they are Brits, so us Europeans know them better, though I only know Robbie Williams from the biopic with apes, that my nephew was involved in recently. And I know Gary Barlow only as a judge on the x factor. I was listening to different music back then. But I have heard of them, and yes, 30 years seems like too long ago. And yes, it's totally flying past...
