How old is your computer system? Mine is 7 years old. S L O W. PSE8 which was bought at the same time. I was willing to live with it as is..... Hubby tried to get onto it today as his laptop died. First thing he said "how can you use this everyday!!?" and ended up buying me a new Tower with PSE15! Hope there isn't a learning curve going from pse8 to 15? MOC is here! Doesn't he know this!!!? LOL About now you just tell me to be thankful. He is the one to spend money. I won't till I HAVE TO! What are you like?

Mine is a 2011 iMac that we could barely afford in 2011 and we could afford an iMac even less nowadays, so I'm hoping this wonderful machine lasts many more years! (patting and stroking my computer :love I am not the sort to replace anything frequently anyway. It's hard to not want to upgrade though, with technology improving so fast. I'm probably going to have to stop upgrading the Mac operating system in another year or two though. I actually haven't even upgraded to the newest one that came out in September for fear it would cause problems. My computer is among the oldest that the newer operating systems say are compatible. So in another year or two they'll probably say it's no longer able to be upgraded. It's possible -- if this iMac fails -- that I might have to switch back to PC because there's a likely probability I won't be able to afford Apple.

Enjoy your new machine! How wonderful you get all the new features PSE has acquired since version 8! If I remember correctly one of them is text on a path, which I think was the sole reason I upgraded when version 10 came out several years ago. :D I've been using CC for a year and a half now, so I have nearly forgotten PSE.

my computer is about 4 years old, and my hubby had it made just for my scrapping. We call it the Beast. lol, I know it won't last forever, but until it does...I am just gonna stick with my cs5, and enjoy.

I broke down and bought a new laptop last November. The fan on my old one was SUPER.LOUD and it was heavy and hot, so John managed to talk me into a new one. I like to get at least 4-5 years out of my computers, but I'm also super paranoid that one day I'll go to use it and it flat out won't work. So I can be cheap about them, but not to the point I will lose everything (hopefully)

@Sokee the interface will look completely different to you as they redesigned the UI at PSE 11. You will get some cool new features. Search for Jessica Sprague videos on you tube because she had one on setting up the custom workspace when PSE11 came out. It will save you some frustration.

My laptop is about 5 years old. I just recently upgraded the RAM, but it's still not quite powerful enough for all that I want it to do. I can also tell she's slowing down and showing her age. I've been looking around, but haven't committed to a new one yet. I just stroke my girl and tell her how good she is and hope she holds out a little while longer.

My MacBook Pro is 2 years old and seems to be performing well. My first Mac and I'm still learning differences between Mac and PC.

I replaced a 2009 13 inch MacBook Pro a year ago with a 2015 15 inch MBP! I upgraded to a 1T HD and 16 GB RAM (I think). I also started using PS CC at the same time. Love it!

Mine was just over five years old when it breathed its last just after we got back from our trip to Spain. The hard drive was almost full and it had been having a few problems starting up, then one day it just wouldn't! Now I have a brand new desktop with 2TB hard drive and 16gb of ram - loving it!

Mine is 4 yrs old and I have just had a new HD built but there were problems with it so we have to figure out if we are going to get them to build another new one or get my money back and start over, figuring out what to do. I've got my techie computer guy talking to the owner of the computer manufacturing company (they are friends) so hopefully they get things resolved. I just want a PC for my office again. That's where I do the majority of my scrapping. My old computer is supposed to be going to my GD so I can get her set up for scrapping. Fingers crossed I get some good news today.

First of all... I don't think I've EVER had a computer system last 7 years. I'm lucky to get 2 (maybe 3) years out of a laptop before it poops out on me or I spill something on it! As it is, I bought a new laptop in like Feb of this year and hated it sooooo much that I bought another laptop in August. (My DH took the Feb laptop for himself--if he hadn't wanted it, then I would have kept it. I'm not that bad! lol) My long point is, good for you! I'm lucky if I pay off the store credit card before buying a new computer! :lol OK, I'm not that bad, but I'm close. :innocent

Anyway, IDK if you'll have a steep learning curve. I bet you'll be ok, especially with YouTube tutorials if you need them. And I gotta say, each and every CT member was so good last year about making sure their MOC posts included detailed instructions if needed--and if they didn't know an answer to a question, someone else always jumped in. I'm so thankful to be a part of such a helpful community! So don't worry: you'll get through MOC! (I can't help cuz I'm still running PS CS3!)

Not to freak you out, but yes. There have been some major changes from PSE8 - PSE15. PSE11 had a new inferface introduced. And made it so you can load actions and styles from within the program - no going into the files on your computer to do it! I don't have 15, and I didn't have 8, but going from 10 to 11 there were some big changes. Definitely look up the video mentioned above on how to set up the custom workspace. And totally ask! I know we have a few people who moved to 15 who can help you out!

As to my computer, I think I bought this laptop in 2013. Our desktop is newer, we built it last year. I think 7 years is awesome for a computer! We got 6 out of a laptop before Windows XP was just too out of date.

My girl has just had her 2nd birthday on the 24th and shes still going strong

:fireyYikes hate for a house fire to start this way!:firey

@SokeeSearch for Jessica Sprague videos on you tube because she had one on setting up the custom workspace when PSE11 came out.

Will do! Thank you!

I just stroke my girl and tell her how good she is and hope she holds out a little while longer.

This would be fun!!! Enjoy getting her started up in scrapbooking!:photo
First of all... I don't think I've EVER had a computer system last 7 years. QUOTE].
We have always had longer life with our Desktops vs laptops. I already have a large monitor so he just went ahead and ordered the tower

my laptop is from 2013 it was a happy divorce present to myself.. *L* and it is still going pretty strong.. :) although I am running out of space with all my scrap kits.. *L*

I probably need to preface what I'm about to write with this- my computers were both purchased for business use (after I completely melted down the battery on a MacBook Air that had originally been for personal use before I started using it for my business). If it weren't for that, I would never had paid the $$$ for two systems like this.

My laptop is a 15" MacBook Pro and will be 2 years old in a few weeks. It's still ticking along wonderfully, and I hope to get another 2-3 years out of it.

My desktop system is a Mac Pro- yes, the one that looks like a trash can. :) My original desktop was a mid-2010 iMac, and it just wasn't keeping up with the software that I needed to run any more (multiple instances of VMWare, Illustrator, etc.), so in October of 2015 I splurged on the Pro. My theory was (and still is) that since it is the only computer in the Mac lineup whose actual processor is easily replaceable, it was worth it to go ahead and spend the extra on it knowing that I could update its quad core to anything up to a 12 core if needed. So far that hasn't been needed yet, but I've kept an eye on the chip prices off an on. If they drop enough, I'll be very tempted to put one in it. And I hope to not have to replace it for a VERY long time.

My desktop is probably 5+ years now and it is slowly getting slower and slower - I don't use PS - I use Corel PSP - but that software really sucks up memory so I end up having things freeze up. I really hope I can hold off buying another one - but at the same time I want to buy one before this one gives out completely ....
