How much space do you have left?

Yup, I plug in an EHD when I need one. One is plug and play, so I tend to use that one (more mobile, of course). I currently back up ALL files onto all 3 EHDs--so all DS, pics, music, documents, etc.
Anyway, I want another 4 TB EHD, which I'll then keep only DS and pics on. I don't use an online backup service (except I have started putting pics on Amazon Prime Photos, but that's done kind of whenever I remember to do it lol), which is why I keep an EHD at my parents' home in another state (so if there's an issue here, it shouldn't be an issue there). The one thing I'm wondering about, is if I should eventually--sometime in the future, but IDK when--just take an older EHD and rip it to a brand new one, in case tech changes or the old one just poops out on me.

Yeah, EHDs just fail . . . some sooner than later . . . so that's why I use Backblaze. It's such peace of mind. Whatever you do to keep a backup is good, though. As long as you have one!

I have 490 GB left of a 2TB (this is my second). My other 2 TB is full of older stuff.

**cough**hoarder**cough** bwahahahahaha

WEEELLL, since I had to wipe my harddrive a couple weeks back - I still have loads of room on my computer - but I have 3 EHD and they are all getting close to full - eep.

Again, another hoarder! I'm in good company!

I have a MacBook Pro with a 1T HD. I have 216.8 GB available at this time. Not much, but I have a ton of vacation pictures and layouts that are still a work in progress.

So you mean you're culling your photos out and you probably don't save PSDs for printed layouts, do you? I'm sure that frees up a lot of space!

Main EHD: 62.3GB free of 465GB (this is my main scrapping EHD - supplies and photos only)
back up: 610GB free of 1.81TB (back up- this has all the scrapping stuff, all the photos, but also all the RAW photo files, videos, and all completed layouts)

We've got the goods! That's a lot of stuff. Imagine if we had paper supplies!

I am also a digi-hoarder but I purged a lot of old stuff earlier this year. It felt great to get rid of stuff I never use!

My main hard drive has 420 GB (of 1 TB) available.
My scrapbooking EHD has 212 GB (of 1 TB) available.

1T has 722.64 GB free
2T has 1.5T free (most all my photos and supplies)
4T has 2.56T free but this is my iMac backup/Time Machine which backs up HB and 1T and 2T

My 1THD has 492 GB free

I also have a 3T which was acting wonky and Apple sent me that 4T to see if that resolved the issue. It did but I believe that 3T will still be a good for an off site storage backup. I just have to do the copying....groan.

Yes, @gonewiththewind, too many psd/tiff files. I keep them until I print, and since I print one big year book, I've had some of those files since January. My London book is going to be bigger than my whole 2016 book - 92 pages so far, and I'm still not done.

my first hard drive was 30 mg.. now haveing 2-1tb in laptop is unreal

It is crazy, the advancement!

I did that over a year ago and you remind me that I need to do it again. Another task for after DSD . . . LOL

Wow! You have a lot of space!

Have you been uploading the finished layouts to print as you go? If you do, can you share your in progress photo book or album? No worries if you don't . . . just was being nosy. Ha!

Bart always has enough space!

I don't know right now (it ll take me ages to check, dumb & slow as I am) but I have two EHDs one is 1Tb and is almost full. The other is 2 Tb but I bought it last year after my other one died....I lost a LOT of kits ....even though I have online back up, Crash Plan lost me quiet a lot, plus ALL my 2015 LOs.....
I have now a new Mac plus the old one I scrap in, which is totally full- it says 122.62 GB available...and that is after I deleted Garage Band, the film editing program, and a bunch of other things so I could fit more scrap stuff LOL
My new Mac is filling steadily, but I have a new EHD that is empty, will move the stuff on the oldest to that one and then continue to move stuff to the new one after I used it......

My one attempt at using a EHD was a huge failure - it broke after 3 months. Luckily I had most of what I needed on dvd's!

in London at least, the best ones I found are from Maplin, Seagate.
I do online back up which is about 40 quid a year.......it is so much worth it but I am wanting to go back to Backblaze as Crash Plan lost me so much :( it is worth having the online back up......
