How many times do you use a kit?

When you purchase a kit, do you use it several times? Or do you make a page and then move on?

Do you go back to old kits often?

When scrapping, do you stick to one kit at a time, or do you often combine/mix and match?

For me it varies, but I usually challenge myself to use them several times! It also depends on my budget at the time. When I'm doing okay financially, I'll buy kits and use them only once or twice. Other times over my 14 years of digiscrapping, I've been on a tight budget. To make it fun, I challenged myself to see how many different looking pages I could create from a kit before I was allowed to purchase another one! It was a way to make being broke fun lol. And bonus, I had lots of pages to show off for the designers!

I sometimes go back to old kits. I would say the main time I did that was for MOC!!

When I'm scrapping, I normally combine kits. Especially when I'm trying to stretch a kit, or just to challenge my design skills.

I use them many many times.. sometimes maybe one or two items but I love using some from my stash.. also looking at the gallery and commenting on pages, it sorta helps in revisiting prior purchased kits as someone will have made a page and I will say as I am commenting on it, oh that is really neat. I look at the credits, and I am amazed as I have it and never thought to use that item that way!

Sometimes never.

I see newly released/on sale kits I like, think I *might* use them and buy them, then never use them. I do have a file of "basic" elements/papers that I've pulled from various kits that I've used on multiple pages. Anyhow, my #1 New Year's resolution is not to buy a kit until I'm going to use it. Even paying full price I think I'll spend less on digi-kits than I have in the past.

I do a little less now that I'm a Polly but I used to re-use kits ALL THE TIME. :) I guess I am thrifty by nature but I would lean toward large, packed kits like those by NBK and Just Jaimee (and collabs) and especially those that weren't heavily themed. That would allow more flexibility to use them for different layouts.

It really varies. Some kits I get for a specific project or theme and might only use once or a couple of times. Other kits I find myself using again and again. I often mix and match themed kits with general ones to extend their use particularly if it's a rare kit theme that I use a lot.

For me, it depends on the kit. I think I've used the football kits in the store over and over as I scrap my youngest son's football from year to year. After using a kit once, I mostly mix and match, using many kits to make a single page by picking out what I need most from each kit. That's a reason for loving the BYOCs - I can mix and match so easily!

I have some kits that I use quite often. Others might be one and done. I don't mix and match since I don't think it looks nice when I do it. However, I might mix and match from 2 kits from the same designer.

I've actually made it a goal to use every kit I have and now when I scrap I try to use a kit I've never used... even kits from designers that have been retired for over 10 years. I have a system where I put the previews in folders and look at them in Bridge. When I use a kit I color code it. So when I'm doing a new layout I can do a search for kits I haven't used and then choose one of them. (Same with templates). By doing this, I have spent a lot less money this year.

Depends. I may just scrap a creative page just to scrap... or a page for CT, or something for an Album. I might re-use pieces for Album or Creative. CT usually focuses on that particular kit.

I tend to re-use favorite templates. lol!

This is a good point!! When I was on several CTs, I rarely used a kit more than once just because I had several new kits coming in weekly that I needed to create with. At the moment I'm not on any CTs (had a computer crash a couple years ago and had to resign from the ones I was on since I couldn't afford another computer at the time, and just haven't joined any since).

I love BYOCs too!! I haven't been scrapping much for months so haven't gotten any, but the itch is back so I'll be shopping in the new year for sure!

Oh yeah, I use templates over and over again if I love them! I like to rotate them or otherwise alter, but I love using them as a base!

Generally just once or twice unless they're for something like a travel album - particularly Disney! I like continuity and cohesiveness when I document our multi-day trips so I tend to use them over and over again. Templates, on the other hand, are something I use dozens of times each! It's so fun to see how similar (or dissimilar) the end results end up turning out!

There are some kits I've used a bunch of times, like sports kits and others I use only once. I also reuse my favorite templates, but I try to make sure I haven't used them nearby where they fall in my book. :giggle Since I do like to mix and match a lot, even if I've already used a kit once or twice, I can mix it with something else and make it look totally different. :agree

There might be a few kits in my stash that I've never used or only once or twice, but I'm not a kit scrapper and pull repeatedly from most of my kits, mixing up items from various kits for all my layouts. Seriously, you can see this in the long credit lists in many of my layouts in the gallery.

Perfectly said, pre Polly I was always dealing with huge budgetary constraints (both not a huge budget to start with + varying exchange rates) so reusing kits & collections along with mixing & matching was the only thing I knew to do

I try to use them more than a few times if I can. But I have a huge stash so it's tough!

It depends on the kit / element. There are a few I've used dozens of times - Mommyish's "Just the Basics" alpha is one I come to time and time again, and Kiwiana papers by Lynn Grieveson.

I try to buy kits when I feel like I can use them soon, unless they're on a screaming good deal and I can imagine using them. I've been pretty good about using what I buy, I'd say 90% of the items I've purchased from TLP (9 years of purchases = a LOT of stuff!) I've used on at least one LO.

As others have said about CTs, when I did a lot of CT work, those kits might get 1-2 uses and then I needed to move on to feature other products.

I'm a mix and matcher. People often comment on my credit list because it's often huge. That's for when I really want to find the perfect (fill in the blank), I will spend a lot of time searching my stash using keywords to try to find things I know I have. I can scrap a single kit, but I'll go back to it, too, because I'm more of a minimalist than a throw everything on the page kind of girl. There's always some unique element I couldn't use "this time," but will find a time to use it eventually (she says as she realizes she has almost 64,000 files in her TLP folder...64 GB of goodies! LOL)

I am generally a one kit at a time gal.
Just because I am inherently lazy at keeping tabs of what I am using, most kits have everything I could need and creating for the store or designer, they want their goodies showcased.
There are some basics I have used over and over. But I am excited at changing things up a little this next year. I do have a huge stash though, super blessed.
