How do you decide what kits to buy?

I buy all the things too LOL!!! There's just too many amazing things to NOT buy though!

Um, I just buy things.... like all of them?

I suppose I do tend to go for certain designers over others, and colors totally draw me in.... but really, I will buy most anything if I have money. Haha

I like to get what will go with the photos I am scrapping, so I'll search the store for just that perfect kit or combination of kits. Colours speak to me. So do versatile elements. Quite often I'll find that I already have what I'm looking for (love that store feature "already purchased"!).

I was really, really tempted to buy a handful of kits from the retirement sale, but I have actually reached the point where I am like, "I have too much stuff, I need to use up what I have before I buy more". Of course, it's digital and never actually gets used up. I track what I use in each kit, and once every element in the kit has been used at least once, I mark the kit as "used." That way I feel I got my money's worth. Also, I am trying to use one kit to tell a single story. I've got Storyteller for my day-to-day stuff, but I use other kits to tell stories about vacations, holidays or special events. I'm also (finally) working on my Disney book, and a genealogy book.

I used to buy kits if I liked them and then I'd hope I'd remember I had them when I needed them. Now I buy for a specific layout that I'm getting ready to do. It helps me to actually use what I get! :giggle

Color is usual the very first thing that draws me in (as in fun bright colors) Then I look at papers next and I really love themey kits that also have tons of generic elements so I can use the kit for whatever I need.

Certain designers always appeal to me, and I will buy most anything they make if I have the money. I also look for super-themed kits if I know I have pics or will have pics to match. I buy emo/gurlpower kits because they make me happy. :)

I have a 14yo stepson, a 7yo daughter, and an almost 3yo son so I can make pretty much any kit work for the photos I have.

I mostly buy based on color and theme. Also, I will rarely buy a kit unless it has a lot of stuff in it. I am much, much more likely to buy a bundle than a kit broken into different pieces -- it always feels like such a better deal.

Colors speak to me... I can use any kit for any theme.... 90% of the time. Since I don't scrap in order, and randomly scrap photos, I'm all over the place too. Most of the time though, color leads the way. Oh... and I do look at elements that are usable for non-theme - enough flowers, foliage, curled ribbon, buttons, etc.

I'm not much help, lol!

pretty much this....

What is Stardew Valley?? I love farm kits but I don't really have a use for them :(

Stardew Valley is a farming game that is highly addictive. I am not a gamer but love it. It's a labour of love of one developer and it has taken off like there's no tomorrow.

I don't scrap in any kind of order either!! I so wanted to try and do weekly pages this year, but here it is end of March and I have done ONE weekly page ROFL!!

Mostly, it's whatever strikes my fancy, as I'm a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants scrapper and not a chronological or project scrapper. LOL

I love that feature too!!! And even if I have something that will work perfectly, I still find myself looking for something that may work even better LOL!! So silly!

Oh WOW!! Tracking is a great idea!!! Do you ever cheat by marking one piece off the list if you've used an element say more than twice to kind of negate the fact that you didn't use something at least once?

I love love love the Storyteller line!!! I joined, but need to sign up again for another 3 months...I was really hoping I would do weekly layouts this year, but I've only done one...I'm horrible at remembering to take photos as our little day-to-day life is SO boring!!

I did pick up a few kits from the retirement sale as they were on my wish list, but that was it.

As the mom of a boy, and sister to 7 boys, and aunt to 2 boys, a kit must work with boys. I love papers, and that's usually what sells me on a kit. If there's a camera element? I probably have it. It doesn't seem to matter how many I collect, I LOVE, like big squishy hug love, :yowzacamera elements.

I have bought a few girly kits for my sister and 2 nieces, but I don't have as many photos of them (sister pre digital, nieces I live farther away). For the girls, I gravitate towards purple kits.

I'm the opposite and look at the kits papers first...I should try doing it the other way around first and see what happens. I love doing the challenges because I get pages done; but when doing designer challenges, I try to stick with only that designers products because I'm not good at percentages LOL it's safer for me.

I'd be in so much trouble if I had boys to scrap as well!!! I can't even wrap my head around that LOL! I do have a couple of stepsons, one who will be 19 in June, but when he was younger his mom had him on the weekends and during all of the school breaks and he HATES having his picture taken, so there isn't anything to scrap there :( and my other stepson who just turned 13 this month lives with his mom and stepdad in Prescott Valley (about an 1.5 away) and hubby feels bad pulling him away from his friends on the weekends so we don't get him very often which hurts everyone here, but we'd rather him not resent us later for making him miss out on friends and being able to participate in soccer because he's down here...not ideal and it's not an easy decision, but when he knows we have an open door.

What are some emo girl kits do you recommend?

I totally agree!! I gravitate towards bundles first before anything else.

I look at papers first too!! I so love camera elements too!! Hubby is a camera freak! I cannot tell you how many cameras he's bought, sold or traded...ridiculous!!
