How are you Lynn G!

Oh I didn't know that. It helps when someone says something about it. Keeping Lynn G & Family in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for sharing.

It happened shortly after midnight on Monday NZ time & even I who was over 1000km away had a bit of a shake or closer to the truth sway for 2 or 3 mins

I was reading up on it last night. Hope Lynn is ok and anyone else in New Zealand. How scary and freaky that the ocean floor lifted up like it did.

lynn and family are ok...she posted in our CT thread. I'm sure she will come out here and tell you herself all about the rumbles.

Thats good, glad to hear it. I just knew she was in one of the regions that got hardest hit.

How sweet of you to think of me. Yes, we are OK. It was a bit of a scary night! But we are lucky that our house is on reasonably solid ground (not wobbly waterfront ground) plus we are up a hill so we didn't need to evacuate with the tsunami threat.

BUT it's been a bit hairy afterwards with the repeated "oh, we thought that building was OK but it actually ISN'T" stuff. It's freaking Daughter-One out a bit especially as she hasn't been able to go into work since. Daughter-Two went back to school after one day at home, when they said they had checked the school buildings, but yesterday they sent them home halfway through school because a second engineer's report found the stairways were potentially unsafe (Her school is several storeys high). Not sure when she'll be going back :-(

I had a few wobbles too and at first I thought it was a freight train rumbling past or heavy wind but nope.

Oh, Lynn! So scary! Thinking of you, your family and hoping you all remain safe with the possible building issues! Hugs!

Happy to hear you and yours are safe. Can't even imagine what it was like. Stay safe.:happyhug

I'm glad you are all okay over there. That one photo of the railroad tracks all wobbly out of shape fascinates me. Imagine the earth shaking so badly in such a way as to do that to steel rails! Amazing stuff. We had earthquakes in California when I was just a little girl. I still remember how afraid I was. And the fear and anxiety made me so sick that I could hardly eat anything. We had them during the night one night and I was shaking so bad with fear that I couldn't stop. I'd try so hard not to shake and then it would just become too much for me to hold back. I was about 2nd grade age at the time. Anyway, I'm still scared of them since that experience. And I'm 67 now.
