All I've been doing the past few days is watching Holiday Baking Competitions! I love them all! I love the flavors of the holidays and seeing what people come up with as a twist on classics. My favorite December flavor is peppermint with chocolate. I've already had Salt & Straw's ice cream and Pepperidge Farms cookies. And I've got peppermint hot chocolate on deck for a festive evening treat.

What's your favorite holiday snack or dessert?

I love warm spices so gingerbread cookies and cranberry spice cake are 2 of my faves. We all like Rice Krispie squares so I always make a huge batch at Xmas.

for me I am excited for tomorrow... LOL Dec 2 supposedly Starbucks will have Eggnog Lattes & Chestnut or Pecan Praline Lattes again!

I know gingerbread cookies are a thing, but I remember my mom making a gingerbread cake and we'd have Dream Whip on it. It was definitely from a box. So, when I grew up and thought of gingerbread, that's what I thought people meant, until I saw the real gingerbread houses! I don't believe I've ever had a cranberry spice cake but it sounds delightful!

Mmmmm...Eggnog! That's a favorite, too! I have one kid who likes it with me. Pecan praline...that sounds super rich! Enjoy your speciality lattes, Christa!

I love eggnog but I don't get it anymore in the grocery as it is way to rich and I can't have much of it. The flavoring in the latte is not a lot so I am good and don't seem to have much of an issue. Sprinkled with nutmeg and I am a happy girl :)

I also make a Scottish Shortbread for the holidays .. my friend's mom was from Scotland and I have made her shortbread for many years. Super yummy! We also make this: Viv's Addiction (Sweet & Spicy Pecans) ... Vivian Howard was on the show on PBS Chef and the Farmer. I have her cookbook - Deep Run Roots (signed by her) and this is one of the recipes in the book.. we also make her Cheese Ball and Salted Buttered Pecans for the holidays too (all out of that same cookbook). They have become our new staple during the holidays.

Christmas Eve, hubby & I do snacks instead of a meal so we do this plus charcuterie board or something (all in small form) and then watch "It's a Wonderful Life" :) Christmas dinner, I make him Shrimp Scampi :) I like the holidays but with it just the two of us, it is not really too much fuss anymore. Just enjoying our time together, which to me is most important anyway :) Hugs my friend!

I'm like you Becky, I like chocolate with peppermint. I just recently found some amazing candy cane almonds at Aldi that are amazing! I'm thinking I need to go back and get another bag before they are gone. Lol. They are almonds dipped in dark chocolate and then dipped in white chocolate with the tiniest bits of candy cane in the white chocolate. They are so yummy!

I am a peppermint fan forever and always. As a kid, I could get peppermint stick ice cream year-round at Jaxson's* and usually did! I've had peppermint whipped cream from Target in my coffee since Halloween because I love it so much. Just got a frozen peppermint hot chocolate from the Target Starbucks on Saturday too.

My husband likes eggnog and I fully intend to make him eggnog ice cream one year. Just not this one ;)

* A local ice cream parlor and restaurant that makes everything from scratch. Now that it's been featured on so many places (like Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives), we mostly do the take-out window instead of trying to get a table.

I'm so sad that pumpkin season is "over." Not a fan of drinks but give me all the foods!

I'm a sucker for peppermint/chocolate things.
I love making peppermint bark...I have people that request it.

Puppy Chow (aka Muddy Buddies)! It's everyone's favorite.
I also love peppermint bark!

Why is Aldi not here in Oregon (well, I can imagine why since businesses are fleeing our oppressive taxation). I would love those!

Oh, I love Muddy Buddies...the peanut butter ones! But peppermint bark...the smell, the texture...it's an experience all its own!

I shall get in line, then! Tee hee!

When I was in high school, a few of my friends worked at an ice cream shop. I had them make me sundaes with peppermint ice cream, hot fudge, marshmallow, and whipped cream. Sigh...that was delicious!

Maybe I should stop by for Christmas-cuterie! I always watch It's a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve, too. I'm not planning anything food-wise this year. My kids plans are never the same year-to-year, but this year I think my oldest is going to be here for a quick weekend, so we are all trying to fit in a visit with him. I just want to take them all out to dinner and just chat.

Sounds like a perfect day to me! Hugs and enjoy!

I’m not normally a peppermint with chocolate fan, but I do like peppermint with white chocolate. I’ll have to run to Aldi and see if they have any of these left.

My BFF Shirley makes the best homemade caramels. I’m missing those now that I live in Georgia and she’s in Utah. She gave me the recipe, but I haven’t tried it yet.

I also love English toffee, and the Rollo pretzel things. I bought some pretzels and I need to pick up some Rollos so we can make those this year.

Peanut clusters are another fave, and I’m going to make some in the crockpot. I found a recipe online a couple years ago and they were so yummy. That reminds me that I need to find that recipe again. I hope it made it with me in the move.

Oh darn! We just got an Aldi across the street from my regular grocery store about a year ago, so I'm new to the wonders of Aldi, but I'm loving it so far!

That sounds amazing!

I love putting hot fudge into a chocolate peanut butter milkshake. The heat thins it slightly so it's easier to get through the straw.
