Merry Christmas Eve Eve! What are your holiday plans? Traveling or staying home? Big celebrations?

Today, I am finishing up laundry and cleaning a bit. All the gifts are wrapped and we are ready for Santa's arrival. It will just be the 3 of us for Christmas Eve as the older kids and grandkids will be at other celebrations. No traveling for us, so it will be pretty peaceful. I'm probably going to cook most of the day tomorrow, just appetizers and finger foods. On Christmas Day, we will open gifts and wait for everyone else to come eat and open their gifts. Two of the grandchildren I won't get to see until the day after Christmas, so the tree will stay up a day longer than it usually does :giggle.

My gifts were wrapped and under the tree a few days ago. My schedule has lightened up hugely, so I'm appreciating not having to watch the time or drive much for a while. And I got out of cooking for Xmas. Tomorrow we're having a family dinner out, something we haven't done in a few months. And for Xmas day, my husband planned, shopped for, and will prepare a feast. All I know is it involves fish. :) We will have a very relaxed day, staying in pajamas, unwrapping gifts one at a time in the morning, then playing together, maybe the new games waiting under the tree.

It will be pretty quiet around here, too. We're going to fix an egg and sausage casserole on Christmas Day along with Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. Our DD and Asher will be over at some point on Christmas Day.

Quiet here too.. tomorrow we will have appetizer snacks while watching a favorite Christmas movie and Christmas day I will make Shrimp Scampi for dinner.. also making Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert and just relaxing.. it is just the two of us and we don't exchange gifts as we don't need anything. We buy when we need things throughout the year. I enjoy it better this way and really enjoy the decorations, hearing from people and spending the time together. I also reminisce my childhood Christmas' and just smile.

Merry Christmas everyone. Enjoy your holiday with family and friends!!

For the first time in a few years we are actually having a full family Christmas. We aren’t doing it til the 26th only cause my mum can’t get the 24th off so our travel day is the 25th plus my uncle is spending Christmas Day with his partners family.

My 2nd cousin and I have been invited to dinner at my 1st cousin's house with his family. That is at noon here in town. Then about 3:00 some extended family from out of town (Missouri) is in Ohio at his sister's house (about 45 minutes from us) so they are coming over to see my 2nd cousin's new house. No meal for this visit, just snacks and drinks. I am making brownies tomorrow to take. I also am taking Peyton as the family from Missouri wants to meet the pup!

No present exchanging at any of these gatherings. It has been all about spending quality time with family for well over 30 years with these people.

I think today is going to be our big day with family and new friends from Church. We went to our Church meeting this morning and it was wonderful. This afternoon we'll have dinner with our kids and friends...fry bread with all the toppings. I made a batch of fudge to take over as two of the grandsons kept asking if Grandma was going to make some. We'll play our gift exchange game with everyone. I don't think we have ever done a Christmas Eve Eve thing before. Tomorrow we'll go over to visit again. The kids live right next door to us....we have a path thru the snow across the little meadow and their yard....so we'll go over again. The little kids will go to bed early...hopefully...and the grownups will play games and have goodies. Then Christmas Day everyone will kind of do their own thing and we'll wander over to see them all again. Have to check out the Santa surprises, right?

I'm missing our other kids and grandkids today. Have a tender heart and leaky eyes. This is a year for giving up old traditions big time and making new ones for us. A truly tender year. But all is good in spite of that. And we are getting our first white Christmas in our new home!! Being from Arizona and having lived in the desert for so many years, this is a nice treat.

Merry Christmas, Everyone!!

My husband and I will be leaving home in a couple of hours to travel to my daughter's for Christmas Eve which is always fun to be with my precious 4 grandchildren. Christmas morning, Ken and I will drive to my older sister about 2 and half hours drive and celebrate Christmas with her and her family. We will stay there two nights before returning home.

We have a neighborhood party tonight, Christmas Eve at my daughter's followed by Candlelight Service at our church. We're on our own for Christmas Day - our plan is to go on a hike to find a waterfall that I've been wanting to find, and then Chinese food for dinner.

The government shutdown put a damper on some of our plans for next week. No national parks for us, so we're going to a botanical garden and then we'll find some covered bridges.

Fairly quiet here. Christmas morning will be my husband, son, and me opening gifts. Then we will go to Sister-in-law's house for dinner.
Today is our 37th anniversary and we are staying home and having a steak dinner - YUM.
On January 2nd, my son's sweetheart will arrive and we will have presents with her and then sometime in January my daughter and son in law will come and have Christmas with us!

Tonight we have our candlelight service at church. And then Movie Night (an usual Sunday night habit) at our house. Tomorrow will be last minute things and baking (if we feel like it). My dad loves German sweets so there is talk of making him stollen and pfeffernusse cookies. On Christmas morning, it is stockings and presents. Around noon, my parents are coming over and we are having a full dinner and presents with them. Then it is family Birthday party for the daughter (sweet 17) with presents but no cake because who can eat cake at this point. Besides, she had her friends party this past Saturday.

On Wednesday, we drive to Ky (about 10 hours) to see my husband's family - eat some more - open more presents, etc. Extended family Christmas party on Saturday, then we drive home on Sunday. On Monday, we are driving to my parents (just 40 minutes away) to see my sister and new hubby who are visiting from Michigan. New Year's Day, I will be at home starting MOC and enjoying my Christmas gifts.

This will be the last Christmas of our little family doing things together. Next year my oldest will have a wife and some things will change - like him sleeping here so he can open stockings with us - and him driving to Ky with us - and ??. There might even be a joint two family party as we really like hanging out with her family.

We had church this morning, a beautiful service of Lessons and Carols. Tomorrow we’ll be at home and eat our traditional Swedish foods for dinner then head over to church for the Christmas Eve service, and Christmas Day travel to my in-laws for lunch and a visit. My DH took next week off on vacation (staycation), but how long his vacation lasts depends upon the government shutdown. It may be longer...

Sounds like a wonderful Christmas, Michele! Enjoy not cooking and have fun with those games!

Ooooh the fried bread sounds so good and the gift exchange game so fun! I'm glad that you will be able to visit some of the family, but know you will be missing the rest. It's hard to be away from family, but I'm so glad you are having a white Christmas and making new traditions. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Jan!!
