Hi ladies, We have finally made a plan about it!!!! Yes, when we came back from our holidays, once again I felt overwhelmed with the amount of toys that is spreaded all around my house and the invasion of it in general. I do not mind my boys playing, I love it, but they are true messy boys and THEY ACTUALLY PLAY WITH EVERYTHING THEY HAVE!!!! So, after actually getting some toys that were to be gone gone, yes!!! , we decided to make a playing room in our attic. I know American houses are lots bigger than ours, so I can imagine for you this sounds crazy...??? Anyways, we are know looking into the structural possibilities because we want a fix stair to it, we also need to place some veluxes. And I also want to think about the fun part: the actual organizing of it. I actually need to take some time to sit and surf on the net for some inspiration, but we have been very busy since we got back and I am allready fully in work. After the birthday party on saturday, I hope to get to it... Anyways, I thought perhaps you could hit me with your inspiration!!! Do you have some boards on Pinterest, or some links to give me, please do soo!!!!!! I would love it! Thank you sweeties!
I don't have any inspiration for you, but in the states we sometimes call those "bonus rooms" - that might help in your searches as well! Have fun with the project - you will love it once it is done!
I don't think it sounds weird at all! Like Amanda said, we call them Bonus Rooms... I also have no boards for inspiration, but will keep my eyes out for you. If I come across something, I'll come back and post it here.
Actually, I just did a quick pinterest search for Bonus Room... here's what came up... https://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=bonus room
Sounds wonderful! I have just one tiny bit of advice since the boys in our house are older than yours. They grow and their interests change so quickly, you'll want a design that can mature with them. My grands are 8 and 11 now with a basement full of toys and games they never touch in favor of their electronics. Have fun planning your new space!
i second what nancy said. classic pieces that they will grow into would be best! enjoy decorating your new space ... sounds FUN!
Hmmm, ladies you sure have intrigued me!!! Time flies and I did not get the chance to sit down and get inspire. Finally someone is coming tomorrow to look where we could place a fixed stairs, which will reflect on the velux choice and the interior. I can't wait! Thanks for your information, it sounds promising. And I keep loving the word 'bonus room'...
in my old house I had an enclosed front porch I turned into a playroom for Braeden when he was little. I did bright colours and painted a chalkboard on the wall. Have fun planning, I'm sure the kids will love it!
And I'm looking for inspiration on Pinterest right now. We have finally decided where the stairs will come, wednesday they will come to place the veluxes in the room. Right now I am looking for inspiration about the floor...
This is my Pinspiration board about it, in case someone is interested: https://www.pinterest.com/PLMScrap/attic-aka-playroom/
Good luck with your venture. I had a look at your ideas on pinterest and I love the white/bright spaces you have on there. The scrabble wall idea is awesome
I just love these for the under-roof-storage that otherwise gets lost to easily. There are plenty of workplans for these on pinterest too. I've had this one pinned a long time ago on my "I want!" board. lol! How amazing would this be?! The little girl in me gets all excited about actual playhouses that you can build in your basement, attic or anywhere else! And you have to have a set place for Lego in a playroom! I remember we had that in our basement (we had a huge playroom in our under-the-complete-house basement) and it was the best thing because you could just leave it all and get back to it the next time! Oh and I find that if you search playroom on Pinterest you find a lot!
Oh my god look at this! Or this!! What?! !!! castle version of the playhouse More crazy amazing dream playroom ideas here And now I need to go to bed. I don't even have an attic. Or kids.
