I'm pretty much like @Sokee. i have my studio and if the door is shut, my husband knows not to bother me. In summer it's aways shut because of room a/c!!! If he needs something, he'll often just text me from his office and vice versa.
Back in the years when I was working and had a troubled and troublesome teenage daughter, I really appreciated the 1 mile walk home before I got hit with teenage chatter. I'd also ask her to give me 15 minutes alone in the kitchen. I had a time to chill a little bit before the ..and she said, and he did ...blah blah blah started which I knew I had to listen to because there was often a little throwaway comment about something serious. 90% junk to hear before that one 'better pay attention' bit.
