Do you keep or delete them? I've always kept them, because I have a tendency to mess up and save over something (like templates) but I've run out of room on my TWO GB hard drive... which is BAD and I am trying to free up some space. I am having trouble finding what I can get rid of and what I want so the zips came to mind.

Any other "making space" tips?

I always keep my zip files from downloads. They're backed on my EHD and I also burn backups onto DVDs. If you're looking for a way to save space though, have you looked into online storage?

i delete zips as they are unstable storage. They can become corrupted at any time.
They also don't compress jpegs and pngs so if you are trying to save space by keeping zips, it's not working!

I have 3EHDS, 1 small one for scrap stuff I use, 1 for storing psds, photos, and stuff I'm not using, and then a third bigger one to back up both of them.

I also now delete zips.

I had to reinstall some items. I had saved zips on an EHD. Several of the zips were corrupted and the files were lost.

I agree with Eryn... compression isn't helpful for your pictures anyway, so save the real files.

(01) Delete all the zips.
(02) Save your PSD templates over to TIFF if you haven't already.
(03) Delete 98% of all the supplies you own pre-2009.
(04) If you are still jonesin' for space, pick apart all the kits you own b/c you bought it and would feel guilty deleting it and/or because it has this one great [insert element here]. Pick out the bits 'n' pieces you like or would actually use, and junk the rest. Junk the guilt, too.

That should do it, Kat! :)

I delete all of my zips too. I have a really hard time deleting from my stash though.......

I delete all zips. I don't delete much of my scrap stash unless it's really old and even then it's all backed up on and extra EHD. I also keep all my .psds, but they also go on the extra EHD to free up space on my "working" portable HD. I have a 1TB and it still has about 350GB free on it after all my pictures and 6+ years of digi supplies.

I delete my zips. For some reason I have a VERY hard time parting with product though, just the other day I used something I purchased from 2007 :) However, a lot of my old stuff I've completely moved off my computer and onto an EHD, and I'm trying to convince myself that if I don't go to grab it to use in the next six months, I'll delete. We'll see.

I have never kept zips. Ever.
And I eventually go thru old kits and get rod of either the entire thing or keep only bits and pieces.
If my scrapping style was the same as when I started hoarding, sigh, just sigh.
It is amazing how much space you can free up if you eve go thru and delete papers... Willing to bet everyone has papers in every color...times six.

I'm the same way. I've never kept my zips, but I do like to re-use products. I finally went through a couple of months ago and deleted TONS of stuff that I didn't think I was ever going to use again. But, I do have a few favorites that I tend to re-use. I kept those.
