We are just heartbroken. We had taken one of our dogs to the emergency vet (as she is having back issues, rupture disc) last Thursday night. We talked to our regular vet after the ER vet and he wanted to see her last Friday morning, so we called and got her in around 9:30 that morning, trying to prepare for news that her back was worse, etc. Her disc is leaking again the vet thinks and she has no position (knowing where it is) sense in her back right foot/leg. The vet said the good news was that she still had position sense in the left back and dogs get around on three legs. Also, that he thinks it is the same disc and not a different one. We are getting her a cart to get around in.
We brought her home, relieved that she wasn't worse than what we were thinking and found our oldest dog in his crate appearing to have had a stroke. We had just been there 1.5 hours before to get Ella and he was fine. We rushed back to the vet with him, but there really wasn't anything that could be done that would have helped for sure. We didn't want him to suffer anymore, so we sent him on to the rainbow bridge.
I have cried all week off and on, we haven't gotten much sleep between being in grief, shock and taking care of the injured one.
So while I was pretty chatty, now, not so much. If you want to read the blog post about Higgins, you can read it at my blog. Don't feel like you have to or that you have to comment, but I just felt like sharing.

Thanks for listening. I am just lost right now.
