Does anyone else have any suggestions cause im beginning to lose the will to live i dont know which of the kids is bringing it home but we just keep getting re infected

HELP!

this is a homemade thing and it is something my mother used to do on us when we were little and it worked every time. VINEGAR. Warm it up a bit until it gets on a temperature that won't harm your heads. Then you apply it on dry hair and wrap you head with a towel, leave it for at least two hours. The vinegar will kill and loosen the nits making it easier for you to remove them. You need to do this process twice a week within a month.

Are you washing EVERYTHING too? Coats and hats are the biggest culprits. When I was a teacher I saw some lice jump from one students coat to the other. They were hung up next to each other. Hope you get rid of the pesks soon!

oh and don't throw the dead lice and nits anywhere. To make sure that they died, let them immersed in a bowl with vinegar, for at least 30 seconds.

Also put away all soft toys. Mom would put them in black garbage bags and put them in the shed. We always vacuumed the furniture and carpets when she'd do a treatment as well. And make sure you wash all the bed linens. She would also boil and clean hairbrushes and combs at the same time.

I also remember reading too that lice are attracted to something in hair conditioner so it might be worth not using that for a couple of weeks after treatment...not sure if this is true or not though.

Getting rid of lice is a nasty hard business. Hopefully you can get rid of the pesky things.

I know that adding tea tree oil to your shampoo/conditioner is a deterrent. I'm guessing you can google how much to add to to your bottles and that should help keep them from liking you or your kids.

I bought tea tree oil and conditioner and used that so we will see and the hedrin is so oily ive washed my hsir 3 times today since using it and it still looks greasy

Chloe's class had it last year for a few months. The teacher made the kids put all their outdoor gear in plastic garbage bags each time they came in to stop the spread. If your kids go to school is a group effort.

COLOR YOUR HAIR. Even if it is the same color, why do you think teachers dye their hair?

You have to treat EVERYTHING....carpets, cars, bedding, stuffed toys, etc....If you don't treat the house and car then you might not successfully get rid of it.

We have never had it but I used to teach and had it in my classroom every year. We would put coats, hats, gloves, etc...in a garbage bag and put in their lockers. I got rid of our carpet and classoom pillows one year b/c it was so bad.

We've been lucky and never had it...knock on wood! But the school has bags to store the kids items in on their hooks so that lice can't spread from kid to kid. Good luck!

If it is coming from the school, be sure and alert the school nurse so the infecting culprit can be found and treated as well. Otherwise you are fighting a losing battle.

Ditto reading about heads itching now... thank goodness I have never had to deal with this. I do hope that the vinegar does the trick. I just remember my Mom telling me never to share my comb/brush with anyone and stay away from anyone who had it as they jump. Goodness gracious. I agree with Trista... tell the school nurse so they can find the infected person so that everyone gets it taken care of once and for all. So sorry about you and yours having to deal with it.

Sending dry things through a dryer cycle will also kill the lice. My youngest daughter kept getting it from my nieces (blah) and I would send her blankets, pillow, etc into the dryer for a cycle or two to make sure that anything alive would die. I honestly don't feel anything did the trick but the nit comb. I also got to the point where I'd just snip out a piece of hair with an egg on it. She has super thick hair and it was easier to snip it than to try to get the egg off. You can throw stuffed animals, coats, etc. in the dryer, too.

Beieve it or not they did away with the school nurse years ago because its the parents responsibility to look for it which I agree with but obviously not everyone does else I woukdnt have this problem,I have notified the school for them to send a letter home and as from last night they have all been treated so fingers crossed for me

worst.thing.ever

You have to comb and comb and comb EVERY SINGLE NIT out. If you miss one, it starts again.

You already have a lot of good advice. Here's another trick that helped my mum cure my head Lice problem - add camphor bits to your oil and then comb them out ... it goes all away when u do this regularly. But I also agree that alert all the schools your kids go to ...unless u correct the source ... Unfortunately this ugly thing keeps resurfacing :(
