got a visit that would never go away? Oh my gosh, that happened to me today. One of my SIL stopped by over my house a few hours ago to bring me an invitation for my niece's birthday party this Thursday and she wouldn't leave!!! To begin with, she came without any notice so she got us in our pjs and ready to go to bed! The boys were already in their beds but of course that in the minute they heard the door bell they got up to see who was in the front door. Then, I had to invite her in and she said yes! O.M.G! It was almost 10 PM in the evening!!!!!!! Doesn't she know that we are supposed to call people first before going to their places? At least to see if we can have a visit at this time. I'm so :hissy

so, I want to know if that has ever happened to you and if I am not alone about being so mad about it :giggle

This always happens to us with my inlaws, they always come at the most busiest time like 4 o'clock when I'm trying to prepare tea,get the kids sorted bath the baby and she doesn't go until I get the tea on the table and its only recently she got the hint to go then, but 10pm I feel for you I'd be just a sour faced host at that time of night cause I'd be just about to go to bed

My MIL used to do this, however, I have to say thank goodness for our condo security because if you're not a resident you can't get in. And the hubs used to just inform the guard to always say we weren't home :p She doesn't do that anymore though, because she moved farther away, lol.

That sounds kinda crazy to me. Who drops in for a visit that late at night?!?!?! Weird. No one ever comes to visit us. LOL.

I hate unexpected visitors. Well, don't hate THEM, just hate the unexpected part. For the most part, I don't answer the door if we are in the middle of something that I can't interrupt, or if I do answer, I just say I'm sorry but we really don't have time to visit. Really though, nobody stops by anymore without calling because they know that we are really busy and just don't have time for it without it being planned. Years ago my sis from 6 hours away stopped by unexpected at night and stayed for hours. Like till 1 in the morning. I wanted to see her of course, but I was thinking, what the heck? You couldn't call on your way or maybe come before bedtime? Yikes. I'd never show up at someone's house without calling first, ever. I find it rude.

this happens alot lately, but its one of my cousin brother and my aunt. I just dont open the door anymore. Just act like nobodys home.

oh no!! yeah, I'm not a fan of late night visitors!!

We've had our Japanese exchange students pop up on us at some pretty weird hours. Two of them (the boys) will be visiting the states and not let us know they're here, and then they'll come wait at our house until we get home. One night it was my birthday and it was quite late when we got home...there they were! I had to stay up and entertain them...my boys had school and my dh had work early. I love these boys, but PLEASE...let me know when you're coming!!! I had no idea if they wanted to stay the night or what!

Wow, that would be annoying! My mum NEVER calls to say she's planning on visiting, she just turns up. And then gets grumpy if the person she's visiting is busy or out. Thankfully, she lives too far away from me to pull a surprise visit, I always have notice at least that she's in the vicinity and may turn up. I was really aggravated last time they came down, actually. They tend to stay in their caravan nearby (which I consider rude but better than the alternative, lol!) and they decided they'd go home early. They turned up at my house at about 9.30 in the morning, I was expecting them in the afternoon so had gone for my run. They called at about lunchtime to say they were almost home... Had to do some fast talking to explain to my kids why there grandparents weren't there when they came home from school as they were supposed to be :madd

That would never fly in my house because I change into my jammies (e.g. let the gurls free) around that time of night, and NO ONE is allowed to see the gurls swingin' around! :giggle They are way too big for that to not be totally obvious.

uggh! i can't imagine even thinking to drop something off at that late hour, let alone stay to visit! not cool!
we don't really have issues with this, as all of our family lives a few hours away at least. and our friends are all polite enough to know better. :giggle

and NO ONE is allowed to see the gurls swingin' around!
LEEANDRA!!!!! Bwahahahahaha!!!

I recognize that! The relief when they are free to swing after being 'tied up' the whole day! Woot!

ya know thinking about it if someone called at mine at 10pm id crap myself thinking something was wrong

Thankfully we've never had that happen, but if we did I would be totally annoyed, especially if the kids were needing to be in bed! That would get my boys all riled up and hard to get settled down again.

Wow! I'm a firm believer in giving notice or at least making sure it's at a reasonable time that's not around dinner, etc.. That would drive me bonkers!!!

At 10pm....they'd be sitting by themselves 'cause this chick is already in bed! Yea, we had a neighbor that thought I didn't work fulltime because, of course, she didn't work at all so she figured that I had all the time in the world. When she popped in around 9pm one night I sweetly (cussing under my breath) informed her that I had to get up early for a meeting the next morning. It really didn't phase her at first and then she got a clue and asked if I worked? Ah, why Yes.....Yes, I Do! She politely apologized. She hasn't been back to my house since. I didn't want to chase her away but dang......some of us have to work ya know!

Nice Leeandra! Now I've got that John Anderson song 'Just a Swingin' stuck in my head! Bwahahahhaa
