When do you start buying candy for "Halloween" for trick-or-treaters? Or do you skip the pretense and admit it is just for you? How many bags does your household typically go through? What is your favorite to buy/give out?

We've been buying "Halloween" candy for the past couple of weeks. Mostly fun-size Snickers and Butterfingers. We will most certainly go through the current bags by the end of this weekend and will be watching the sales and buying for the next couple of weeks. My husband has quite the sweet tooth if it is around. Last night, I went up to bed and there were at least four empty crumpled wrappers on top of my pillow... and those were just the ones he took upstairs. LOL.

You?? Do you have a candy weakness?

Well, I bought one bag at the grocery store on Monday and I've hidden it away so I can sneak some in the evenings. :giggle I may not even buy candy to hand out this year because we are going over to a friends house to do trick or treating. My oldest usually wants to hand out candy instead though, so we'll see. When we do stay home, we usually don't have a ton of kids. Last year was especially low... I think we had about 15? It's weird too because we live in a neighborhood.

If my husband left the wrappers on my pillow, he would be banished. Lol.

I actually have done okay so far this year, because I have been making a conscious effort to avoid dairy.... meaning no chocolate. Last year we bought several bags of skittles (I don't really like those) and had leftovers for quite some time because of lack of kids in our neighborhood. So we've been waiting so far.

There is a trick-or-treat thing going on November 11th in my country (instead of Halloween) but there has never been a child at my door since I moved in here 4 years ago.
The first year I bought candy and then ate it all myself afterwards. The second year I made sure I had enough of the things I usually have at home in case someone came by. The third year I was on a diet and didn't have anything at hand. And this year will probably be the same. In the weird situation there will be a child at my door, I'll just give them my own candy. Lol

I'm pretty good. I bought everything this week, and it won't be touched. We used to get around 200 kids because folks seem to truck in kids from other places, but the city started stopping "visitors" at the bridge last year, the residents were complaining, but it also caused terrible traffic problems, so last year we had only about 100.

I usually give a small chip bag and a two bite candy together. I bought for 100 this year, and when we are out - I turn off the lights and doorbell.

I always decorate the front garden with tomb stones and crime scene tape - put out my lighted pumpkins, etc. that's the fun. If I'm early enough from work I'll dress up to give out the treats.

We sometimes get older kids with no costumes - I reprimand them..:thumbsdowns

I only ever buy them the day before. Otherwise, and it has happened many times before, I would eat the lot :pigout

I haven't let myself buy any yet. I buy a variety of stuff... some chocolate, some not. Having a daughter who doesn't like chocolate has made me a little more conscience about having some of each on hand. I honestly have no clue how many trick or treaters we generally get as I'm out with the kids while my husband is at home. Last year was our first year in a single family home here in the city, before that we lived in a condo building so very few kids rang the doorbell. Can't gauge by last year though since it was SLEETING!! It was a miserable night to be out. This year the kids want to decorate our back patio and direct trick or treaters down the gangway to the back. We'll see if it happens though. I think this is our last year of trick or treating which is making me a little sad.

I have a severe weakness for chocolate, which I'm not supposed to eat. If it's in the house, I'll eat it. Then my tummy rebels if I eat too much. So, I'm not buying it until the last minute, then I try to purchase something I won't eat. I really don't like candy in general, just chocolate.

We live in a well-lit townhouse development that's on a cul-de-sac. People bring their kids to ToT since it's safe, and that's fine with me. We also have a lot of apartments near us, so there's kids everywhere. Last year it was a lighter turnout, and I think we only had 150. Yes, 150 trick-or-treaters. We've had up to 250 and had to make emergency runs to the store for more candy!

Ugh! I have to wait too! I hate that I have such a sweet tooth. I admit that I've purchased candy corn already this season! Sucha mistake It's so evil!

For years we lived in a secured building, so nobody could get in to come to the door & the couple of families in the building that had kids young enough never bothered, but I always made sure to have a few individually wrapped snacks on hand - muffins or chips usually. When we moved a few years ago, we had about five kids the first year, two the second & none since then, I guess because we're right on the edge of town. Last year I didn't buy anything or turn on the porch light - this year will be the same.

I've got some spider rings and plastic ants from my teaching days, I may only hand those out. I only had two kids last year, so I'll have plenty left over for years to come. I'm trying to tame my sweet tooth so I know if I buy candy I'll eat it. For years when my girls were grown and out of the house, I bought the candy I didn't like that way it wasn't a temptation for me (I prefer chocolate and not the harder sweets).

We've got ours. We do full-size Hershey bars (tradition for going on 20 years now) so I just leave the boxes wrapped until Halloween night. It's way easier to avoid a big candy bar than a little "fun-size" one! We're in a new neighborhood and not quite sure how many kids we will have. We bought two boxes just in case, but its entirely possible we'll have a lot left over. If so, I'll throw them in the freezer and we'll plug away at them throughout the year.

We live in the country which means we have NO tricker treaters. What I buy will be just for us. Mostly I try and not buy as I would eat and eat.....
Kit Kats
York Peppermint
Butterfingers
Snickers

Years ago when our kids were younger we actually had someone complain to us when we brought our kids to a neighborhood to trick or treat. They asked us where we lived and said we should not be there as we don't live in that neighborhood!! I have bought candy in the past then have donated to families that I do know that live where we are bringing the kids that year.

Oh... lol! I keep a friendly sized bag of candy in the house. 1 a week for dessert, snacks or as a treat for our family! This way when I by candy for other occasions, I'm not overly tempted. I can't live without a little chocolate.

We never get trick-or-treaters at our place but I always have a bowl of chocolates ready on the off change some one strays down our street :D
