One of my goals for 2019 is to drink enough water each day. Yep, good ole h2o! I got a hydro flask for Christmas and that has been helping me stay hydrated. I got one that looks like this. Now that I'm teaching computers, I've found that I need to drink more water than I used to. I drink 2 of these full of ice water each day while teaching and 1 more at home during the evening. I think I need more water now because I'm talking all day and have to speak loudly enough for the students to hear me over the fans of the computers. I'm always taking a sip or two of my water when I'm giving my students instructions. I'll admit that on my days off, I'm not as good at drinking my water because I was only using my flask at school. I finally had to decide that every morning I would just treat it like a school day and fill up my flask with ice water, so I could keep it by me and drink from it. Doing that has helped a ton because if it's there I'll drink from it, if not I won't. My girls have cute stickers on their flasks, but I haven't decorated mine yet. I just haven't found the right ones. Maybe I should make my own stickers with my digi supplies. So how about you? Do you drink enough water? Do you have a favorite water bottle or trick to make sure you drink enough?
I use this currently when I remember and have done for years now - it’s a water filter bottle as I prefer the taste of filtered water. I find the only time I will drink enough water is if it is really cold water on a hot day or if I don’t have other drinks to choose from. I need to remember to take water out with me when I go out to save buying $4 bottles of diet coke all the time.
I try to drink water in between my flavored beverages. I drink Diet Pepsi in the morning and early afternoon, and then switch to Crystal Lite or Diet Canada Dry ginger ale with a splash of white grape juice or concord grape juice for a refreshing spritzer. I do drink quite a bit of fluid, just not enough plain water! These are the cups I have . . . my sister got them at Sam's Club, but you can find them on Amazon as well. They work even better than Yeti! And WAY cheaper - like $25 for two of them.
I agree filtered water is best. And good call on taking it with you to save on buying soda. I'm always telling my hubby to do that, but he loves his diet mtn dew. I don't drink soda anymore because of getting kidney stones. I love Dr Pepper but love not getting kidney stones more.
Thanks for the recommendation. I think I'll get some of these to have at the house and at hubby's office. Maybe then, he'll drink more water.
Dh and I both have these - him orange, me gray. We bought reusable straws too. It was expensive , $20, but the size fits in our car cup holder. Plus, at 40 oz, I'm good filling it twice - anything else is bonus! And it keeps water with ice cold all day! We've had ice last 48 hours in it right now. In the summer, it's more like 24 hours, but that's still awesome! We have a big brita pitcher we fill it with and a bag of ice in the freezer. We bought them for my parents for Christmas and they love them too. Mine has a golden knights sticker I made on it.
That was my New Year's Resolution a couple years ago. I drink 20 ounces when I first wake up, and then have approx. 48 ounces of water while at work, add in tea and bubbly flavored water on top of that, and I'm good. Then at night, I'll usually have my glass of soda as a treat! Yes, I pee a lot, lol!
We have a water purifier built into the scullery and I easily down 5 x 500mls of big glasses of water per day, then there are my three cups of orange tea and some herbal brew as well. In summer I drink so much more than in winter.
I got myself into trouble drinking too much water. Fortunately my GP made me do a drinking diary as part of the diagnosis process. It turned out I was diluting my body fluids too much, and suffering from mild secondary drowning. I'm short, and now rationed to a max 1.5 litres a day on a normal day. Increased to 2 litres on a hot or active day.
I happen to love water - so I don't have to make myself drink it. I have a couple of cups of coffee a day and drink water the rest of the day.
^ this is so me... now that I'm teaching I have to wait until lunchtime to take a bathroom break and it's really hard some days. I had to have the TA from the room next door come in for a bit the other day, because I just couldn't hold it any longer.... hehe!
I wish mine fit in the car cup holder. I have to open the console cover and put my flask in and then slide it back shut to hold it tight.
oh wow! I've never heard of that. I'm a shortie too... I don't want to drown myself. What symptoms were you having?
I love water too. Especially if it's nice and cold. I'm not a coffee or soda drinker, so water it is! Sometimes I'll have a glass of milk or lemonade, but most of the time it's just good 'ole cold water.
I do normally drink enough water. For me, water hasn't been that challenging for the past several years since I cut out 90% of my soda drinking. I used to down Cherry Pepsis throughout the day, now I just automatically go for my water cup. I just leave my regular mug on the stove, and whenever I'm thirsty I go to the kitchen, fill it, and chug it. I also drink lots and lots of hot tea.
Like you I drink more when I'm at work. I think I need to fill my bottle at home so I will drink when I'm here!!!!
Thanks for the reminder! I just went and had a glass. I'm supposed to be drinking water all day long, but it's hard to remember. I have low blood pressure, so the water helps keep it up, and it also keeps the headaches away. I know when I haven't had enough water because my head will start to throb. With my dietary restrictions being so crazy I need a lot of salt, too, which all the water washes away. And the salt isn't good for my bones and have been told to stay off it, but I need it so I won't pass out all the time. It's a crazy circle. I also have a Brita water bottle because I can only handle the taste filtered water. It goes with me everywhere! I'll have caffeine free teas in the morning, then switch to water after that. I can't have sodas anymore, but I don't miss them. I do miss lemonade, so I have some lemon drops I put in my water every now and then.
The only thing I drink is water, pretty much. I stopped drinking soda in 2000 as part of getting ready to get pregnant, and never started it up again. I don't even drink juice hardly ever anymore, preferring the whole fruit. I think I drink enough, or at least nearly. I just drink water after every time I eat and whenever I'm thirsty. I do carry a water bottle wherever I go. It's just a glass one with a vinyl "jacket" and metal lid I got from Wegmans (my grocery store).
I have a red hydro flask that is almost exactly the same ... it's 40 oz and I also bring a 24 oz bottle with me to work everyday. I love the stainless steel ones. They keep things cold all day. The 24 oz one is an under armor one. Then I drink more when I get home. It's like weight lifting carrying all that water plus my lunch and other stuff in every day.
