Are they really getting rid of Photoshop on its own and making everyone go to Creative Cloud? I really have no use for the other applications in the Cloud. I'm wondering how this move is going to pan out for them.
I have the cloud. And I do love it. Plus I get Lightroom as well. But you only download what programs you need. So I only have photoshop and Lightroom.
I just read more about it. You can currently use the software you own. However, all future releases of the CS including Photoshop (and they just announced a new Photoshop) will only be able to be accessed through their Cloud service. You can access a single application through the Cloud for $20/mo as opposed to the full suite which is $50/mo. It's hard for me to wrap my mind around the idea of software on a subscription basis. I'm used to buying my license and owning it!
do you know when they are doing this? I will need to purchase my photoshop before they do this. I have no use for the cloud and looks like I will be using CS6 from here on out. I have used CS3 for 5 years though. That will really stink if they only offer it in the cloud.
Their website says: While Adobe Creative Suite® 6 products will continue to be available for purchase, Adobe has no plans for future releases of Creative Suite or other CS products. So it doesn't look like CS6 is going away. I've heard that the newest Photoshop that will be available in the Cloud has some better software for fixing blurry photos. I've watched some videos of this new feature that look pretty interesting.
Thank, Carolee. I was looking for the trial download of CS6 today and couldn't find it. Guess that's why.
I get why, due to folks sharing their software, but I will be on CS5 for the rest of my scrapping days...a subscription is not conducive to our "budget" life style! bhahha..and I am pretty darn slow on new technology. oh the phone on my wall is ringing!!
Does this mean I can't get Lightroom 5 except on Creative Cloud Subscription? CS6 capabilities should last me a while except for LR improvements. I have a 14 yo, can I sign him up for a student discount?
Why do software companies think this is conducive to customer satisfaction and retention? Microsoft have gone the same way (I only wanted Outlook but couldn't get it). Ridiculous!
I hate when they make the people that abide by the rules suffer for those that don't. Really stinks. It will definitely knock a lot of people like myself out of their software because the monthly sub. does not work for me. As it is, I bought CS3 about 5 or so years ago and paid like $300 with the student/teacher discount so that averages out to $5 month LOL. I can't imagine turning around and paying $20 a month for the same thing.
I just saw that too...I'm still on CS5...wonder if you can still buy a CS6 upgrade anywhere....I wasn't in any rush before, but now....hmmmmmm
I think the subscription is a sneaky way to make money. I won't be doing it. I still use the original CS.
Blech. Forcing my hand. I had heard that you'd no longer be able to get upgrade pricing but I didn't know they were going to discontinue all together unless you are on The Cloud. I need to read more but..blugg.
Well that sucks. I have CS6 but I have my issues with it, so I still use Photoshop CS5 (and Illustrator CS6). I don't mind the idea of subscription based services, but ... it's annoying that software is moving that way. I like the option! LOL But since I see myself using Photoshop CS5 until the end of time, I guess I'll be fine.
Exactly what I'm wondering, Amy. I hate the idea of being FORCED into subscribing too. I'm sure the subscription works wonderfully for some people...but for others, not so much. Peppermint, what kind of problems have you had with CS6?
