So, thinking about Rebecca's meal planning thread are you one who likes to grocery shop? I hate grocery shopping and I mean loath it. Today though I was searching around online and found a grocery store nearby where you can do all your shopping online and then you just schedule a time to pick it up and you just pull up to the store and ring a button and they will bring your groceries right out to your car :tu . I was more than a little excited to give this a go. They actually only charge $4.95 for this service and the prices on their food are in line with what I pay at Walmart. I see this saving me time and money because I am very guilty of loading my buggy up with "extra" things on each trip and spending double what I had planned. Do any of you have something like this in your area? Do you use it?

i'd love to shop online then just go pick it up... as long as it wasn't too big an extra charge for the service! i have a love/hate relationship with grocery shopping...

I've used it, but it's $8 here. Still worth it to me because I'm the same way with impulse buys. My dh is offended at the price, though. I tried to explain that "I'd spend way more than $8 on chips and ice cream if i went in!" but he said "yes but then we'd have chips and ice cream". LMAO

The only problem with it is, I usually end up forgetting stuff anyway. lol

ETA: My dh doesn't really care if I spend the extra $8, he just likes being a curmudgeon. :)

you know, i THINK meijer will do this. i just haven't tried it. the only thing i'm not sure of is how to go about using coupons if you have any. i tend to save about $30 or more each trip with coupons if i have them, so i wouldn't want to pay $5 extra and then lose $30 in coupon savings??

We have a lot of this services in France but I never try I love to spend time making shopping even if I also spend more like this :-)

I don't hate grocery shopping as long as i have had adequate time to prepare a list and I don't have my boys with me. It isn't my favorite activity and I would honestly rather pay someone $5 to put my groceries away for me LOL but they don't really offer that service, I am guessing :)

There are some grocery stores here that offer that service and it is only $5 I think and I have had friends do it and say that it is great! I would be curious how they do the coupons or if you can use them that way.

I don't mind it if I'm at Whole Foods or The Fresh Market. I love those stores...otherwise I hate it. I have had to do if with 4 kids for most of the summer which may be why it's so miserable to me right now. Now that I have Jack in school 2 days a week I can do it alone once in awhile maybe it will get better!

I soooo wish we had this here! I loathe doing groceries. I would shell out the $5 in a hurry. :)

I loathe grocery shopping with a fiery passion...or maybe I just loathe it here in Mississippi lol.

Our store selection is not the greatest...no where near what I had in Washington or Florida. I coupon so in Florida I loved BJ's...think Costco or Sam's but they take coupons!! The stores are always packed here and (god bless him) I love my husband but he has a serious problem with crowds but for some reason he always wants to go with. So we have a pretty strict system of shopping.

We try and shop the Sunday closest to the 1st and 15th of the month. We always shop with our paydays and we try to do Sunday mornings since most people are at church. I menu plan and build my shopping list off of those. I do a pretty detailed list and try to stick to it like glue. There are the inevitable throw ins but we try to avoid those as much as possible. Weird but it actually helps us to shop with the kids...they hate it and we are usually so busy trying to get what we need and get out that we don't have as many of those impulse buys lol.

But yea...if I could still take advantage of coupons and BOGO's on meat I would totally pay 5 bucks to drive in and pick it up!

At the one here you can still use your coupons. You just give them to the person when they load your groceries and they take that amount off your next order.

They also have their discount card and you just use that on your order online and you get all the sales that are advertised in store so it's actually a pretty good set up.

i do a LOT of grocery shopping on-line ... i started about 10 years ago in nyc and have been doing it ever since. i use a company called peapod and for $6 or so i have everything delivered to my house (it's brought inside and placed on the kitchen island.) i tip too, so it gets a bit expensive - but so worth it for me! looooove it!

Oh goodness, and I thought it couldn't get any better than what I just found but apparently it does LOL. That would be the best.

dana, i just looked and peapod delivers to this area! woot! i might try it sometime just to see how i like it. idk. i sort of like grocery shopping if i have the time to do it.

Oh goodness I would love a service like this. In ideal circumstances I feel "meh" about grocery shopping. I'm not it's biggest fan, but don't mind it if it I have ample time and I'm alone. I like it even better if it's at a store I really like (Fresh Market, Whole Foods, etc).

Right now though I'm kind of a grumpopatomus about any shopping of any kind (especially grocery shopping) because I loathe the heat and we are so far removed from "town" that any trips take a BIG chunk out of my day...which means I plan like crazy and have tons to do in one trip, leaving groceries for last so the cold stuff doesn't warm too much on the drive home...all of which works together in some big plot to suck any semblance of "enjoy" right out of the process. LOL.

(p.s. can you tell I have a trip to town today? :giggle)

I don't mind grocery shopping. Although, I sometimes do order online for the convenience. I usually pick them up on my school run, so it's extra easy. Since my oldest daughter has been gluten free, I've also been ordering dry goods from Amazon. They're amazingly good for specialty items. We have an organic produce co-op here that I use too, so that is always delivered.
