Goodreads Reading Challenge

I really need to get around to making some reading themed layouts! Its such a huge part of my life.

In 2018 I read 285 books according to Goodreads. I started in 2017 recording books I read to my children, comics, graphic novels, and textbooks so that's probably why it seems so high. Add me here: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/2141067-emma and forgive my hot mess shelves as I just added all our textbooks for 2019.

@janedee Thx Jane for sharing your goodreads 2018 challenge board. We've read some of the same books and the J.T. Ellison books looked interesting. I reserved a few of them with my library.

BTW.....for anyone sharing their goodreads challenge link, it only works if we're friends on goodreads, otherwise the link doesn't work. Mine is under rae clevett if you want to find me.

Well, what good is that? :cornfused

I went into my profile and changed my "who can view my profile" settings from "just my friends" to "Goodreads members". Can someone with a Goodreads account please see if that makes a difference? There is also an "anyone (includes search engines)" and I don't think I want to go that far.

Thanks! Sorry for posting a link that didn't show what I meant it to!

I clicked on your year in books link, which I was able to view, and on that page I clicked on your name, and then made friends with you! You just need to approve it. So I think it works. (I hadn't seen what was happening before though, so I can't compare.)

@sakura-panda Katie - the links worked for me. I went into my settings and think it is set properly for viewing. BTW, I sent a friend request to you.

Here is mine and if someone who isn't a goodreads friend with me give it a try and see if the link works?

Yes, it took me to your 2019 books read. Sent you a friend request as well.

For 2018 I set my goal as 240 and completed 250. My 2019 goal is 240 as well. So thankful that I'm a fast reader!

I don't often get the books read for those chosen here - probably because I'm in 5 different meet-in-person book groups.

I read close to 140 books in 2018, far surpassing my goodreads goal of 52. My 2019 goal is 156 (3 books/week). I've fallen in love with audio books, and I am almost always listening to one these days. I listen at the gym, driving, during my work. I stop when I need to do homework, or something that needs more brain power, like work meetings... and sleep. :giggle

I discovered reading challenges in 2018, and have taken on several more for 2019. My kindle app on my tablet has an alarming number of books in the To Read collection. :giggle

I've yet to get an audio book but I might give that a try sometime. I might like it as I drive, although I don't often have to drive far, there are times when I'm on the road for an hour or two. I might have to check that out.

Just make sure you get someone with an interesting voice. I tried All the Light We Cannot See on audio and it kept putting me to sleep!!! I haven't tried another one since :eyeroll

Wouldn't have thought of that LOL. But I can see how the wrong voice could make or break your enjoyment of listening. It's like the voices for our GPS, most of them drive me nuts and I can't stand to listen to it but there are a couple that are perfectly fine LOL

This is so true! I cannot understand how some narrators even have gotten these jobs. I always check the example before I buy.

That said, there are always a lot of really great narrators!!

Well...I hit my hundred books today! That in itself is doable for me most years but this year, it was Dick's cancer that had me retreat into books a lot more. There's always a silver lining!

WOW! That is super impressive! I set my goal at 35 this year and I don't know if I'm going to make it. According to Goodreads, I'm 3 books behind schedule! Eep!

:clap I can imagine. Way to go!

My goal is only 19 and I'd only read 4 before autumn arrived. :blush I consume a lot of media in the form of podcasts and videos instead of reading. But I did a lot of reading over the last couple of months and now I've only got 4 more to meet my goal. I think I'm going to go read some more of Michelle Obama's book now!
