I love frozen thin mints, but Keebler has Grasshoppers that are just like them. So, I get a box of those every now & then. We were in San Francisco last weekend & there were some near the parking garage as we were leaving. I bought one box of Trefoils because everyone at home likes those. Hubby's fave are Samoas & Brody loves everything. @Juliestcyr , Gina Miller's daughter is a girl scout in New York, but I don't know where. Also, @Lena Gardner 's daughter has an online link you can order from.

Can someone clear up how "Trefoils" is pronounced. Is it tree-foils or tray-foils?

My son has a good friend in girl scouts who has a mission to sell a certain number of boxes. She's done so well with her little business. We support her for sure. We actually bought online this year and they are going to be shipped to us. 2018 is a magical year! :giggle

My faves are Samoas but honestly there are so few in the boxes now, I struggle with paying for them... even though I know it's a great organization to support. I also feel guilty b/c I can eat a whole box in a short amount of time and I get upset when if my kids try to eat any. :giggle

Yes, it's hard when they put fewer in the boxes in addition to raising prices! I've watched a few price changes just in the years Naomi has sold.

This is Naomi's fifth year selling. Our troop really buckled down and saved the first few years and were able to take the girls to Savannah and Tybee Island for 5 days this past summer. (Savannah is the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of Girl Scouts USA) When I'm miserably standing in the cold helping Naomi sell cookies I try to remind myself of how much fun we had on the beach last year haha!

Because our girls are older they get to make the tough decisions too, like skipping the cheapy prizes and instead accepting more profit per box so we can do fun things. Our girls rock and forgo their prizes in lieu of trips and outings!

Somehow last year I managed to not eat one cookie! This year my willpower is sticking.

Samoas are my favorite too and we don't have them...we have Caramel Delights which are GOOD but not as good as Samoas. Samoas are made with dark chocolate and caramel delights are made with milk chocolate. They're both horribly tempting, though. :P

ps Naomi sold 540 boxes last year and somehow has this pipe dream of selling 900 boxes this year which gets her a paid week at camp. I don't know man. That's a LOT of cookies, but I want to believe in her...it's just...so....many!

@Lena Gardner girl, put Naomi's link up in case anyone gets a hankering from this thread!

My husband brought me home 2 boxes of thin mints last night! The samoas didn't make it through the bus ride home. He says he shared with other passengers. Lol.

I used to buy them when they were more affordable, but now that we're paying almost twice the price for half the product it's really not in our budget. Our neighbor is in GS, so we'll purchase from her just because she my DD's BFF. I know they go for a good cause, but they've priced themselves out of what we can afford.

A few years ago I purchased a box of their special gluten-free cookies and while they were good, there were hardly any cookies (maybe 15?) in the box. And they were very small. Not worth the $6.00 or $6.50 I paid.

Dang, how are you guys getting your cookies already? My niece is in girls scouts so we buy from her each year, but she said the cookies will come in March. Thank goodness it's almost March. All this talk about cookies is making me hungry and now I want a cookie. I'll have to settle for a pickle today though cuz I'm being good.

I didn't know that the girls only got about 60 cents a box. Thanks for the info @BevG I should have just given my niece the $20 to put towards her summer camp instead of buying $20 in cookies. That would have saved them from going to my hips and thighs too. But, I do love those Samoas. And now hearing that the caramel delights have milk chocolate, I wish I could get those too. Milk chocolate is my fav! Hubby loves the tagalongs and he and the girls steal my samoas, so I have to hide them... hehe

Well... now that I have read about cookies for several days on here, I officially want some. I want to try these smores cookies and then if I stop for those, I will need the ever trusty Samoas. And my husband will also probably want a box of thin mints... I feel like "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" :giggle

But seriously... I hate how much they cost and that the girls get so little.

A little bit jealous over here, because I've never had Girl Scout cookies. I am fairly sure we have Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, I think the Girl Guides sell cookies, but I've never seen them.
    >> Just Googled, we have Girl Guide biscuits (aka cookies) but only 3 flavours, Traditional Vanilla, Chocolate Chip and Shortbread.

But also not jealous because because we have an enormous range of biscuits, mostly thanks to Arnott's, including the Mint Slice, which is pretty much our equivalent to the Thin Mint.
One of their latest amazing ranges is the Chill Me TimTams (you guys know of TimTams, right?). They have 3 flavours, Cherry + Coconut, Turkish Delight and Iced Coffee. Delish!!

Well, I don't know them. Are you from Down Under? They sound wonderful. Cookies are my favorite dessert - although I prefer the homemade variety... Or at least the kind that tastes like someone baked them at home. Hmmm - just did a Google search - and I could get a box from Amazon... Although them seem pretty pricey, probably due to the import fees.

We are planning a trip Down Under in 2020, so I will have to get some to try and bring home.

I don't buy them. I've found a dupe for the thin mints at Dollar General. It's Clover Valley brand. They are super inexpensive, so I just grab those any time I feel the urge for the cookies. Those are my fave.

@keepscrappin - Not sure why the cookie seasons are so different. Probably controlled by the bakers since there are only 2 for the whole USA. Ours is mid-Jan to first weekend in March. Someone else told me their season was in December. Our season does include Superbowl Sunday which is a great Sunday for sales since people are rushing to the store for snacks for the big game.

Yes, Aussie here! :) Regular TimTams are just the best, these new limited edition ones are just absolutely, amazing, but they won't be around for long. Also, I think I remember my US friends saying that they found them at Walmart last year. We took them an Aussie care package when we went over in 2014, TimTams were their favourite thing in it :) We actually got my mum to send more over while we were there, lol!!!

@jesskab it's treh-foil. If that helps. I didn't see anyone else answer yet.

@Lena Gardner I forgot that you also had a Naomi in Scouting! Except I think yours is a little younger than mine. My Naomi is 12 and she's in Pathfinders. (I think it's like Cadettes). My other daughter Ruth is 10 and in Girl Guides. In no way are we expected to move that quantity of cookies. The standard here is 4 cases (48 boxes) of cookies per girl, per year. Some units will also do booths and sell more that way. If you get a good spot on a good day, you could move about 200 boxes that way.

Also, for the leaders and Cookie Moms taking note, (@BevG, @Lena Gardner ) Our cookies sell for $5 a box, and we get about $1 of that for our unit. A couple years ago, they introduced a tiered selling incentive, the more boxes per girl a unit sells, so the range is from about 90 cents to $1.15

The amount that the troops make depends on the local council and also on whether the girls decide to take the incentive gifts or a bigger profit & no gifts.

I've been an active Girl Scout volunteer for almost 30 years and was a leader for two different troops. Yes, I still buy GS cookies. My favorites are Thin Mints, Lemonades, and Peanut Butter Sandwiches.

I buy them because I know that I'm not just buying cookies. I'm buying entrepreneurial skills, leadership skills, goal-setting, organization, planning, and customer service skills. I'm buying weeks at camp, field trips, travel to locations around the world. Cookie sales took my troops to New York City for a week, to GS National Conventions in Long Beach, Indianapolis, and Houston. Cookie sales helped my daughter go to Europe for three weeks - Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, and France.

We didn't buy any this year... our regular "suppliers" aren't in Girl Scouts anymore :-) Because of this, I kind of forgot about it being cookie season! My daughter did bring home a box she bought from one of her friends at school.... but she shared most of it with her carpool on the way home from dance (which was probably a good thing). My son used to buy a bunch from a girl at school... but they dated briefly last year and now they don't speak... so he's lost his cookie supplier as well! :giggle

We all love Thin Mints, Tagalogs are the favorites for me and Clara, my son loves Samoas and my husband isn't picky... he likes them all!
