Today is International Women's Day.

Do you celebrate it? If so what did you do?

Who are the special women in your life & what makes them special?

I don't necessarily go out of my way to celebrate it but if there are events especially in the Disability community (that I'm proud to be part of) celebrating women then I attend. This year I attended a webinar from an organisation in Australia on Leading Change - Women in Disability on Leadership. Previous years I've attended a high tea celebrating disabled women.

Who are the special women in your life & what makes them special?
The two strong women in my family - my mum first of all, without her, I wouldn't have had such a strong advocate through my younger years - apart from about 3 years of h*ll, it's just been the two of us.

Secondly my grandmother especially before her diagnosis of Alzheimer's and dementia a few years back - her support, love and financial help through tough times has been a great support. While our relationship has changed over the last few years, I still appreciate her support and love from afar.

Do you celebrate it?
Nope not really but I still appreciate that it's a thing.

My grandmas, my mom and my sisters, just to name a few.

They picked my son's birthday to mark International Women's Day, so I spend it remembering all the highs and lows of motherhood, and celebrating my funny, sensitive boy!
