Asking here cause the recipient won't see it here ;P Anyway it's my mum's 60th at the end of March and while I know in a perfect world what i'd love to get her, i'm not sure if it's overkill (I usually only do one item per person with a $20-30 limit). She loves Bruce Springsteen and paid $300 to see his concert last weekend so I was thinking of getting her his latest book and CD which makes it close to $60 (original plan was this was going to be spread between Christmas 2016 & her birthday but I found an amazing deal on a printer so did that instead). Part of the reason i'm a bit hesitant is I may need the savings i'd be dipping into if I get a particular job that requires relocation before early April. What would you do? If I was going to do it i'd need to order soon as it's coming from the UK.

Aw, you're a good daughter! Could you buy just the book? That would save some money but still be a great gift for her. Or is this a package deal and that's why you're thinking of getting both? Also, I'm thinking about my mom, and how she'd buy the CD before I could give her the copy I'd bought for her lol.

it's definitely not a package deal at all, just me wanting to get her stuff she'd enjoy.

I'd go with the book too! I love the idea of a personal note in the front or back to make it super special!

I like the idea of the book and the note that @tkradtke mentioned. You are sweet Jennifer.

BTW my Dad and I were just talking about Bruce Springsteen this past weekend. I forget how it came up, but Bruce was in my Dad's english class ... so he's in my Dad's Sr year book (& I went to that same HS for a little while as well. Before we moved).

What a sweet thing to do for your mum's 60th birthday Jennifer!!!
I love the idea of the book and hand written note! You should definitely make a scrap book page about it too! :-)

@jenn mccabe - how cool that Bruce was in your Dad's english class!! Was Bruce super cool in school like he is now? :-)

He said he sat in the back and slept most of the time. Said he was eccentric, dressed completely differently from anyone else (of course! come on he had other things besides school on his mind!) and a loner. Back then it was considered weird I guess to be so different. By today's standards ... I think he would be considered cool. I think most didn't know how to relate to him or what to think. Bruce must of known school was not his thing/gig and that he had his sights on much bigger things. ;)

Awww!! I also love the book and handwritten note.

Just thinking out loud; does she have a Kindle or an iPad that you could maybe do one as a download, sometimes the downloads can cost a bit less.

Billy Joel the same thing .. he came from the hometown my Mom wasborn and lived in.

I'd do the book. I can't remember, because I know Mother's Day varies, but you could always do the CD for that if she hasn't bought it by then?

she is not tech savvy so that's not an option

I was thinking the same as Courtney, the book/note is a lovely idea and then you could possibly get the CD a bit later if you are able. You are very sweet :)
