Fun Firsts | Pad Patter 8.11.22

My most recent "fun first" was last week, when my five year old read his entire reader to me unassisted. Despite having two bookworms for parents, he hasn't shown any interest in learning to read and I'm so excited for the new worlds that will open to him once he's mastered it.
That’s so exciting Meredith! Little readers are the cutest. Have you checked out the reading pad? Here’s a link if you’re interested: https://the-lilypad.com/forum/forum/reading-pad.171/

I loved the one time I celebrated my birthday at Disneyland! I'm sorry you picked up a stomach bug though...

You and Courtney are both TV stars?! So fun! I have heard of Bozo the Clown but not Willard Scott so thanks for teaching me something new!

That was my first trip to Disneyland, although I've been to WDW umpteen times. I was really surprised at the number of kiddos that flooded the parks after school. I'm thinking one of them shared that bug with me, lol!!!

From what I understand The Bozo Show was broadcast locally so each station had it's own person playing Bozo. I think Willard Scott was the weatherman on The Today Show at one point too. I wish I had a photo from that day.

Is that your own photo of your first car? It’s so cute!

Actually, no. It's the same make and model and color, but mine actually had after-market tinting on the glass and some other cosmetic upgrades as well. My ex-stepmom has lots of photos from that time period, but she's not found one with my car in them yet. She did give me this little gem that she found, where I got a white rabbit fur for Christmas. Like what? It's hot here, but I thought I was so fancy. LOL

What a fun photo Cheryl! I love finding gems like that. My mom and sister have all our old photos so I rarely see them.

Most recent "fun first" was today: going to our regional 4H shooting competition. My son shoots recurve. I've never been able to go with him...usually I send him off with the team or his dad. We all went today. Not sure how fun staying there all day pretty much sitting around waiting in the hot son was, but it was fun to see him shoot and win 1st place!

Older "fun first", hmmm, I do remember when I first rode my bike without any help. I think I was about 5/6 years old. It was so freeing!

That’s awesome he won first place and that you were there for it Elizabeth! I hope you get some much needed rest out of the sun now.

I’m impressed you remember your first solo bike ride because I don’t remember mine at all.

Definitely seeing the sunrise from the cockpit of an airplane. It was a few years ago before all the airline restrictions. DH and I were flying to Frankfort, Germany and our flight out of Chicago was aboard Lufthansa Airlines and was overnight. We were sitting in the Business Class "bubble" of a 747 and I hadn't slept all night. Back in "the old days" they didn't even shut the door to the cockpit. The co-pilot came out and asked me if I'd like to come up and sit in the cockpit and watch the sunrise. It was completely awesome!
