Front Load Washer?

I have a whirlpool and love mine. It opens after a minute when it shows a minute is left and it got loads of awesome cycles :)

Yes, mine are the whirlpool duets. They're very old! My dh didn't want to pay for the pedestals when we bought them, so he built something up and they're on that. It looks tacky, but it's in the laundry room...so I don't really care all that much. When we move I'll get the pedestals and a newer model! :)

You have to be careful of washing little boys pants. Always clean out the pockets! My boys would shoot pellet guns, and those little yellow balls would get caught in machine somewhere and cause it not to drain. We had a lot of problems with that. Also, when we first got ours, there wasn't a lot of HE products out there, and even when we did buy it, it wasn't always HE and we'd end up with suds everywhere, and it would cause my machine to malfunction. I had the protection plan from best buy, so they finally deemed the washer a lemon and gave me a brand new one. This one is now 4 or 5 years old and I haven't had any problems at all.

I use liquid soap and softener (I've heard that's not good...but it's what we use) and I do bleach every white load.

I love washing my bras in there...and other hand washables. It really is a very very gentle cycle. I always hook my bras before washing.

I love mine...I'll never go back to the top loader.

I've never used the HE detergents. I just use the regular, but less of it.

Also, it always says it has one minute left, but it means 13 or something. I'll see 1 minute on there and figure I'll just putz around the basement until it's done. Next thing you know, I've done all the ironing, tidied up the playroom, did a hybrid project and pulled weeds in the backyard. THEN it beeps.

I find this part quite frustrating too!

I remember getting my front load for Valentine's Day two houses ago, I was pregnant with my son who is now 19. Now that I realize it's THAT OLD I don't feel bad about the fact that it sounds like a jet engine during the cycle anymore. Mine is the original Maytag kind with all the mold type issues with the rubber gasket. I clean it, bleach it, wipe it, etc but it never actually LOOKS clean. When that sucker dies (or the matching dryer) I'll get a new set of front load with the pedestals so as not to bend so much. I do love the delicate cycle and the fact that I can wash so much in there.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our front loader! We got it from Sears 5 years ago, but have only used it for 2 because we couldn't take it Germany (110 v. 220). I don't think they make my specific model anymore. We have the large capacity washer and dryer, so I can literally double my load size.

I don't know if all are the same, but I just push the cancel button, wait for the door to unlock and then I can add clothes to the cycle. Mine is all digital. No knobs...I've seen a lot of them with knobs. Just little buttons.

we do not have a front load.
ours is a high-efficiency top load.
i was worried about the smell in the front load - because i'm way too ocd to allow the door to hang open in the front if the machine is not in use... i NEED linear visual lines... so the front load didn't seem like the best choice for me and all my mental issues. :giggle

I have a fridgidaire. Got it 5yrs ago & works great. I never zip/button pants (opps)
I got it because it uses less water than a top loader. I can't see wasting 40 gallons of water a load.

This has totally confirmed with me that I need one. I don't have a separate laundry room so our top loader and dryer are in a little hallway at the back of our house, but I hate that they're just sitting there, and wanted to get a front loader so that I could kind of build a little cabinet around them or something.

Sorry to say I will not be a help with this. We had one a number of years ago and it gave us so much trouble. and did not clean the clothes well! I agree to where it felt and sounded like a jet plane taking off during the spin cycles, and having six children the washer is running everyday. Needless to say when it broke we just went back to a top load.

i had whirlpool duets with the pedestals and absolutely loooved them! i was sad when we sold our house and the buyers kept asking over & over for them... & in end we caved. we had already bought a cheapo pair to use while we were living in temporary housing out of state & now i'm stuck with those until they die. but as soon as they do i'll go with whirlpool front loaders again :)

Love the front loaders too but wish we'd spring for the stands or drawers underneath. Stooping is no fun!
