I know I've asked this or similar before but how do you decide what fonts to use....I have hundreds (over 700) especially handwriting style fonts yet get so overwhelmed and go back to Traveling Typewriter 99% of the time for my journaling and a alpha or word art for my title.

I don't use a font manager, but I'm sure that someone will pop in to share their experience with them and how it integrates with PSE and scrapping.

I know you are using ACDSee. You can copy your fonts into a separate folder with your scrapbooking supplies, and then create a category for fonts. You could then have subcategories like favorites, script, typewriter, etc. You won't be able to use the font from ACDSee (that I know of anyway) like you would in a font manager, but you could at least be able to organize them a little bit.

I'm a creature of habit. I have been using the same font for most of my pages for the last couple of years. Prior to that, I used a different font most of the time for a few years. I like the continuity because if I were handwriting on my pages the "font" would be the same too.

I do have a font manager already so that none of my non system fonts are installed (have been doing that for years when I only had 8gb of RAM and my laptop was not quite going backwards in speed) - I use Font Base just to temporarily install fonts as I need them & I have spent some time categorizing fonts in ACDSee as well but honestly its the act of choosing a font out of the hundreds I have that makes it so painful for me so I end up sticking to Traveling Typewriter. Probably would help if I had less than 700+ fonts...

:lol

Fellow font addict here. I also have far too many fonts; and of course I only ever use a fraction of them. (And I really need to do some culling!...).

For me, it helps that I have a couple of favourite font designers/foundries. My all-time fave is Cultivated Mind, a Canadian type foundry with some really great vintage-y and rustic and hand-lettered fonts (of which my absolute favourite is True North, which comes in Regular and Rough, with a complementary script font, and with cool textures and fun extras). A few years ago, I managed to snag a special bundle of Cultivated Mind fonts (dozens and dozens of fonts, including True North, Pacific Northwest, Local Market, Local Brewery, and more) for 20 dollars. Totally worth it for me, as I use these fonts all the time, and they all play well together, and just always seem to work.

I'm a huge fan of a font with multiple styles (my current faves are True North; Hanley; Harman; and Coldstyle). Using a font with multiple styles (a title font; a script font; a sans-serif font; etc.; but all part of the same family) is just so much easier than attempting to mix and match from my vast and unruly collection of too many fonts!...

I'm pretty confident about my font choices when it comes to heritage pages and family history layouts, but often feel overwhelmed/at a loss when it comes to contemporary layouts...

I know what you mean. I end up using Traveling Typewriter and Stamp almost exclusively these days.
