Flowers | Pad Patter 4.20.23

I love flowers! All the flowers and I can’t pick one favorite. I love the wild ones and the ones I grow in my garden. Last year was the first year growing zinnias and farewell-to-spring and they both flowered greatly and I enjoyed them in bouquets. I hope I’ll have the same luck with them this year.

I'm glad you had so much success with your zinnias and farewell-to-spring last year Ann-Sofie. That bouquet is beautiful!

Ooh I love all your flower pages Cheryl! The moment I read gardenias I thought of smelling them. I love to smell any roses I see but I've learned to watch for bees and spiders on them before I take a sniff. ;) That's crazy you have to hide vegetation from your cat!

Here's a perfect example. Jay usually brings me in gardenias as they start blooming. I wanted to put some on my credenza/dresser by my desk to enjoy the smell. I forgot to move them The cat found them and chewed on them, then promptly got sick. I didn't take pics of the sick. :nope

The pics go from beautiful mini bouquet to a perfect bloom to the culprit to the damaged flowers and leaves to the culprit trying to be cute so as to gain forgiveness. :crazy

Love those yellow flowers Michele! Much prettier than the yellow dandelions that cover my lawn. ;)

I love dandelions too and in one way even more than buttercups: they stick around all summer!

I love flowers but mostly as they exist in nature. I know this is weird, but I'm ambivalent about cut flowers -- . . .

I don't think that's weird. I've been that way my entire adulthood. I much prefer wild flowers.

I agree that dandelions stick around for a very long time.

I love flowers so much, I can never pick just one favorite. I love peonies, tulips, lily of the valley, and poppies the best.

When I moved to this house the previous owners had planted day lilies, daffodils, iris, orange poppies and roses that still bloom. I have added tulips, peonies, hollyhocks, and pink poppies. I have also added some other blooming perennials that I don't remember the names of... I stick mostly to perennials now. In the past I have planted some annuals in the spring - petunias, impatiens, and begonias - maybe I will do some more this year. My yard has really gotten away from me the past two years because we weren't living here while our house was being renovated, so I have some work to do to get it to where it was before we moved.

Good luck getting your yard back to where it was. Yards are a lot of work! When we moved into our house we had roses and I don't remember why but I removed them and now I miss them so much!

I love flowers so much and I'm getting so excited to have them all over the place again. I do great with outdoor flowers, the only exception being tulips...I've never had any luck with them. I have tons of daylilies, they are one of my favs and one of the only perennials that I've been successful with. I always have lots of annuals, all different ones, and I tend to buy oranges, yellows, and whites.

I’m excited to be seeing more flowers everywhere too! I love that you have a lot of different ones. You’re not giving me hope for my tulips though haha ;)

My lawn is full of flowers ... dandelions, buttercups, violets, and some teeny tiny purple flowers (henbit???) ... at any rate they are all weeds that go well with the non-grass ... Virginia creeper, English Ivy, clover, and other green stuff.

I liked the clover that attracted the butterflies to our yard but it also attracted bees that I accidentally stepped on...

Thankfully I haven't stepped on any bees in forever, but watch, I will now, lol!!!

Speaking of butterflies, the electric company has been running underground wires on our street, which means they are digging up yards for the lines and to place transformer boxes. One of my neighbors lost a group of plantings in the corner of his front yard. Now he's got an ugly transformer there, but worst of all in that grouping there was a bush that the Monarchs LOVED to rest on the branches when they migrate. One year there were hundreds of them in that bush.

Monica dear, good luck with the transplant, tulips and all kind of bulbs grow up great in soil mixed with sand, check that drain well, that's the secret.
What flowers do you like? LOVE all kind of flowers, including the wild ones, but my very faves are roses, hostas, geraniums, dahlias, and pansies Colors? all of them
Do you have any flowers inside or outside where you live? Inside there's a lot of succulents, gerberas and some geraniums. Outside my roses, hostas, etc.

I pretty much feel the same way! And when it comes to favorites, I love all kinds of flowers and all colors. I especially love the lovely smelling ones like gardenia, magnolia, honeysuckle, etc.

Hundreds of them? That would have been so fun to see! So sad.

Gerberas were some of my wedding flowers. Love them!

I love the ones that smell good too. I was parked under a blossoming tree the other day and it smelled so good! I think they smell better in nature than in my house.
