A friend I met through scrapping is an avid hiker and has run marathons in the past. When I asked her about a good shoe for walking she highly recommended Merrell. I bought a pair but then had the heart issues where walking was the last thing I wanted or even could do. And, now they don't fit. The right shoe especially because of the avulsion fracture last year. It seems that foot has gotten bigger! I'm wearing an ankle support every day which adds to the tightness of the shoes so I've had to start ordering a bigger size.i have been eyeing some Teva hike/beach sandals, they look like they have good arch support but i'm not sure how hard they are - there are similar Merrell ones so it's a bit of a toss-up until i can be bothered to go try stuff on again
I can't comment on Dr Scholls specifically (i may have had some like orthotic-y inserts from them previously but not shoes), i am a Merrell convert though and i just ordered my daughter a pair of the same sneakers as mine while they were still on sale - she was a die-hard Brooks fan and i used Mizuno for sneakers for probably a decade but TKMax (i think it's TJMax in the US) converted me on Merrell so i hope for both of us that they live up to the hype re: walking. Best of luck healing!
It is great that there are brands and types of shoes for everyone to have their favorites. I for one could never get into the Croc shoes craze. I thought they were ugly. I did try a pair that looked like a ballerina slipper and after a couple hours my feet hurt. Not enough support for me.
but now that it's getting colder here it's time to crack out the winter version
