So this week I am feeling extra old. I went and enrolled my youngest for highschool for 2021!
(There's no middle school here. He'll be in year 7 next school year which starts at the end of January.) It's not even necessarily the school he'll attend (but it's good to have a Plan B or back-up).
So even though he isn't even half way through year 6 at this stage and it's not immediate, and I know no one's really enjoying 2020 so i thought I was ready for 2021, and it's more a milestone for him, but it really hit me too.

So what's making you feel older (or younger!) at the moment?

@bellbird I remember registering for different grade levels. Don't blink! it goes by that fast. You turn around once and he will be walking down the aisle toward his diploma!
Me? Sore joints! Don't know what is up, but last 4 nights- shoulders and hips so painful I only sleep a few hours. Can't sleep on my back as I get too congested to breathe. Never thought I'd have this complaint! LOL

This reminds me of the last few jigsaw puzzles we did on the floor; & of the getting up afterwards... Serious suggestion, if you have a comfy sofa or armchair, they can be more conducive to longer stretches of sleep ... And I don't know about hammocks but I'm jealous of this guy:hammock)

Possibly my aches and pains.... stiff when I get from sitting watching TV for a long period of time. I know my lower back is collapsing so that causes some of my pain.
Maybe my birthday happening soon makes me feel older but I am looking forward to it as my one and only daughter and her family are coming for lunch that day. It will be great as we have not physically seen this family since early March.

My eldest has left school, and we're preparing for her to go to 6th form college. 6th form is school styled learning for 16-18 year olds. Alternatives are vocational learning colleges, and apprenticeships. As she has no idea what she wants to do for a job/career, and is expected to get high grades, 6th form is the best option for her right now.

Well, let's see... My youngest turns 15 tomorrow, is going in 10th grade, and studying to get his learner's permit. Then there's the fact that my oldest is 29. I mean, how do I have an almost 30 year old when I'm barely out of my 30's :giggle:giggle.

Umm, the fact I had to give the year I finished high school for my postgraduate qualification application (2005/6 - it’s actually 2005 but because of time I’d missed with major surgery I stayed an extra year) and realised **** that’s 15 years ago I officially finished high school in December. To top it all off, last month was 5 years since I graduated with my degree.

i've been thinking i'll just lucky dip in the icecream bucket we store candles in and just put random numbered candles on cakes for DH and myself in the future but a planned lunch with fam you haven't seen in that long, that's fantastic!

i'm glad there's a path for her while she's still unsure of what she wants to do - my 14 y.o. DD is the same but they are picking subjects now for the next 2 years (the last two years of highschool) so it's been a topic of discussion here too. DD said most of her class and friends and all, all know what they want to do but she doesn't really. One of the teachers before the 'learn from home' started asked them, just conversationally what they want to be, and she was the only one that said she didn't have any idea yet and that she thinks at 14, it should be ok to not know what you want to do, and the teacher agreed and said 'fair enough' because she (the teacher) didn't know back then either.

I can't think of anything making me feel older or younger, but I found out this evening that my son thought his parents were younger than we are.
My husband said Jaws is 45 years old.
I said, "Oh, I'm older than him."
My son expressed surprise that I'm in my 40's.
I said, "Yep, I'm 48!"
He said he thought I was in my 30's. Smiling, I told him I was 35 when he was born.
Then my husband asked him to guess how hold he is. Nope, not in his 40's anymore. He turned 50 this year.
:D

Make sure she picks subjects in all the different areas, to give a nice wide base. So at least one essay writing and research based, at least 1 science, at least 1 creative etc. If she can get 2 in each area all the better.

The mirror? and of course as my eldest child turns 53 this year??? but "frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!' (Gone With the Wind)

I totally feel ya Justine! My oldest goes for his driver's license test tomorrow (finger's crossed) and my youngest starts high school in the fall. (9th grade). I really don't know where the times goes at all!

Isn't it funny when you think of your age in context of a movie or something iconic like that _ I had no idea Jaws was 45, but I guess he had a few sequels so maybe I think of him/ ?her as younger, or maybe sharks (especially mechanical ones) age well!
