What's your favorite job you've ever had?

I got to thinking about this lately, and I realized it's a toss up between when I worked customer service for internet companies and when I worked customer service for American Express platinum and black cards. I really enjoyed the internet company job because I learned a lot about how the internet works, and I learned a lot about being able to troubleshoot my own issues at home. I helped a lot of people with regular internet issues.
I enjoyed the American Express job because I learned about reservations, travel, and I spent a lot of downtime goofing around on the Internet (Wish TLP was around then!). The pay sucked, and management was a pain and dishonest, but I liked the actual work I did.

So, what's your favorite job you've had?

The job I retired from. Spent 16 years there. There were some aspects of the job I didn't like (phone work because of my hearing issues) but the actual accounting work I did, I loved. I did a little bit of various types of accounting... accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory and month end work. And, I worked with a lot of spreadsheets. I love spreadsheets :)

The job I had before that was good too except for Jan-April. It was a CPA firm and I did accounting except I hated the tax part. Loved doing the work for clients of putting their information together for financial documents (monthly or quarterly). I also did payroll for some of our small clients and enjoyed that as well. I was payroll backup in my last job and it was much more demanding and not as straightforward... I started hating payroll there! Was finally glad when someone else was trained as payroll backup.

As a teen ... working as a cashier at an ice skating rink. Besides earning money, I could also skate for free. Great job for a girl who loved to ice skate and had a large group of friends at the rink.

As an adult, I've spent the last 42½ working for my father (an attorney). I spent the summer I was 14 (1966) working for him cataloging postage stamps from an estate he was administering . I swore I'd NEVER work for him again. Then in 1979 his secretary quit without notice and he asked me to fill in temporarily ... I've been here ever since.

My biggest annoyance with my job is that my father HATES to repair/replace anything, so we're always butting heads over getting stuff repaired or replaced. I start every day angry b/c the front door knob's lock is "loose" and it's a battle to get the door unlocked. It's been loose for more than five years, but Dad won't let me replace the dang knnob. Heck I'd buy a new knob and do it myself, except I can't do it w/o him noticing.

I do plan on retiring at the end of 2023.

Hands down - when I was a Human Resource and Development Trainer. We held off-site training sessions for a whole week and tried to help people learn how to interact more effectively with each other. There were 8 of us trainers and our joke was "we would do this job for nothing". That's how much we loved it!

First: being a stay-at-home mom and homeschooler. Second: being a "kept wife" or can I be a "trophy wife"?

For jobs were I was paid, it would be the 4 summers I delivered produce boxes. The pay barely covered the gas and wear on the van, but I did get a box free each week. I got to drive around and leave yummy veggies on doorsteps.

PS I did work a corporate job for 20 years but I would not of called it fun.

I'd definitely have to say my current job! I love love love making templates and helping others document their memories.

I did have a lot of varied experience when I worked for a prestigious law firm as a certified legal assistant. I did that for 10 years. There was a lot of travel, and I stayed in expensive hotels and ate outrageously priced meals. I flew first class quite a few times as well. It was also very high stress. I worked long hours, and spent a lot of time being frustrated with co-workers that wasted time and I ended up shouldering more than my share of the work load. It was enough stress that I quit to take a sabbatical, and then I never went back.

I do love being a SAHM and homemaker. I love being at home!

Definitely the 3 years I spent as a paralegal for a solo medical malpractice attorney who became a good friend. She was tough, crazy and had me "babysit" her brillant, opinionated and bored 10-12 year old at a law office, pick her up from school, run errands, attend parties and everything else in addition to doing my legal duties. My legal duties taught me so much. She worked at home alot and I had a small office to myself. She was amazing and taught me so much. I left when she told me her brilliant daughter was spending the summer with me in a small office setting (who also knew alot about computers). I should have stayed but her daughter was incredibly smart and I guess I felt like I didn't want to go on. Right after I left, Hurricane Katrina hit our area and we lost tough forever. Shame. I really liked her.

By far, my favorite occupation has been being a mom. Nothing else has come close.

If we're talking about paying jobs I don't think I could pick. There are big things I dislike about every paid job I've ever had so far.

My favorite job will always be when I worked at a mini-golf/arcade place in high school & college. I was close with everyone on staff, I got to choose my own hours, it was easy work, and it was a local "hot spot" so I was bound to see my friends from school at least a couple times during the summer.

My parents hated my schedule (but my dad insisted that I had to work) but I loved it: sleeping in until 3 or 4 pm, getting ready for work, working from 5 pm - 12 am, and going home to get online (AOL, baby!) and watch Conan O'Brien until I went to bed sometime between 2-4 am. I worked 5 nights a week, and the other two nights a week, I generally found myself either at work talking to my friends and waiting for them to close for the night (sometimes we locked up & stayed later to play video games) or hanging out with them outside of work at their houses.

I would say my favorite has been my Volunteer work in Aged Care which sadly I am not allowed to do anymore. :cry

I love everything about being a preschool teacher except the salary! I think my favorite is a tie between my current job and my first preschool job. That first one was back in high school and college when I worked as an aide during a preschool's summer camp. Because I was an aide there was no work I had to do outside of school (unlike all the unpaid lesson planning and prep full teachers do), and being a teenager the pay seemed fine. My current job is for a school with an amazing community (many of us parents go on to become teachers there) that's just an all-around good place to work.

When I was young, I had a part time job in a bookstore and loved it. The pay sucked but it was fun to chat with customers about books and I got to unpack and stock the new books every week.

I've been developing and executing strategy for a F100 company for the last 10+ years and so far that's been my favorite.

When I was a junior in high school I worked in a sports card shop. I was the only female that worked there and pretty much the only female ever in there. It was a fun way to meet cute boys. I know it’s sounds terrible but it was true, lol. I helped at the register and during down time I would break open packs to make sets of cards.

I worked at a full service car wash/detail shop during the summers while I was in college. I loved that job!! I got to be outside all summer, work on some pretty amazing cars, wear shorts and a t-shirt, and made some pretty great tips.

I really loved working as a girl Friday for a vet. I did the admin and wrote up and captured the invoices, but I really loved when the doors were locked and we worked on the animals. I loved the opportunity to do some caring and healing with them.

Hahaha!! okay, this is me too!

as for paid, I never really enjoyed working. The best job was working the Mac computer lab at At College for tuition.

Or maybe the year I sold rare coins on eBay for my husband’s boss.
