Where are your favorite spots to visit? Time to start looking into the fun stuff, so give me some ideas, please. Both for short trips and long ones...

we like la pineda in spain its quite and relaxing we have been back twice to the same hotel and would return

PARIS!!!! Sigh, oh I love Paris: the architecture, the galleries, the food - yum!

Other than that, it all depends on what you are looking for! Cities, culture, scenery, outdoor pursuits?

you wouldnt be jealous if you live here and now you know how we feel when you just pop off to disney world lol,and get cheap uggs he he
Im going to Turkey this year hope i like it eeek!

Where are some good places to take a 5 year old? And how is Disney Paris? How about a good beach spot?

wow - i love every single place i visited the 3 years i lived in europe ... sigh, i want to go back! LOL! my faves:

paris - i actually lived there and am TOTALLY biased :) but - i think it's just the most wonderful place on earth!
southern france and corsica - we did a week in southern france (staying in a small town called eze sur mer) - did lots of traveling around, went to monaco at night, etc - then took the ferry over to corsica for 3 days ... very fun trip
croatia - i LOVED dubrovnik - such a beautiful, cool city ... we also spent a couple of days at the plitvice lakes national park (so so pretty!!) and the paklenica national park ... this was also an amazing trip :)
prague - i think prague is just amazing - one of my friends and i spent a week there and loved it ...
if you want to be a bit more adventurous - i loved morocco and egypt ... :) but would suggest going with a tour or someone who knows the area well ...
venice is a great short trip ( we went for a long weekend ) ... we stayed here: http://www.hotelexcelsiorvenezia.com/ and it rocked - it wasn't actually in venice - but a short water taxi trip away - i loved those water taxi trips :) very romantic - heehee
one of our favorite hotels EVER is this one http://www.villadeste.it/en/13/home.aspx (villa d'este) in lake como - it's really expensive though! LOL

ok - etc etc etc ... we also did several trips to spain - they were our 'golf and beach' relaxation trips, lots of club med trips which are super fun for families, a trip to portugal, i went to octoberfest and the running of the bulls, london A LOT (one of my best friends lived there), ALL.OVER.FRANCE, ireland ... maybe that's it ... there's so much i saw, but also SOOOOOOOOO much i didn't .... if you want any more info on any of the places i mentioned - let me know ..i LOVE to talk about it! hahahahaha ... although - i was there about 8 years ago - yikes! time flies!

i saw your question after i posted lisa ...

disney paris is great :) not quite like disney in the US - but still fun!!

disney paris is ok as dana says not a patch on the real thing tho i think spain is nice for children as they have nice beaches or maybe tenerife or gran canaria because they have the nice weather

we went to marbella in so. spain twice - really enjoyed it and i think it would be a nice place with kids :) we also went to southern portugal (algarve) and there were lots of kids at our hotel :)

Thanks girls! I am definitely going to be checking all these ideas. DH has been on me for months to come up with our first vacation spot and I just now have felt like doing it.

Dana - Venice and Lake Como look wonderful. Wow, so beautiful. Actually, I think I just want to go to every place you mentioned! I will definitely be picking your brain again.

Karen - where did you stay in La Pineda?

Paris for sure! And Giverny, right outside of Paris, that is so awesome! I would visit the Rhineland and Bavaria in Germany, Amsterdam, and Prague too!

Jealous of your trip, wish I could go again! You'll have a blast though! :happydance2

I absolutely loved the Italian Dolimites and loved loved LOVED Belgrade (Serbia), Ljubljana (Slovenia)and Poreč in Croatia! The former Yugoslavia had some of the warmest people I have ever met!

amalfi coast
barcelona
palma majorica

some day..
greece - athens would be cool.
iceland (well, not right now lol)

I love almost anywhere in France!
We lived in Aix en Provence which is in the south, close to Marseille, but much smaller and you have great access to the coast, the countryside, etc. If you go in July, you could see the lavender fields which really might be my favorite thing EVER!! it is beautiful for one, but the amazing fragrance is just incredible.

I have had several friends visit Cinque Terre (sp?) in Italy and say that it was amazing as well.
There is so much history and architecture in Europe, I don't know how you could go wrong!

Definitely, definitely Paris!
Loire Valley - it's out of storybook...beautiful castles and wine
I'll echo what the others said about Prague, don't miss it!
Provence a la Peter Mayle (I'm a total junkie!)
Scotland, love love love - especially Edinburgh and the Hebrides

you can all just be quiet with your fancy schmancy european travel. i'm ignoring you all now.

Sigh. I love Paris.

I've also been to London, Belgium, and Switzerland, and Switzerland was by far my favorite place in the entire world. :)
