I loved Hunger Games trilogy and wish there were more.

Many of these I haven't read or even heard of.

For Christian fiction, I really enjoyed the Restoration Series by Terri Blackstock. It follows the lives of one family and their neighbourhood community as they deal with the planet being knocked back to the age before electricity in a single instant. I though the Deni character was just ever so slightly too shallow in the first book, but as the series goes on, Terri's development of the characters gets better and better. I would read this series again. The description of the unfolding disaster of the loss of anything electronic or electrical is particularly well written.

I also loved Circle Series (it was a trilogy until the 4rth novel Green was released!) by Ted Dekker.

It follows a man named Thomas Hunter who ends up with a strange head injury so that whenever he goes to sleep, he wakes up in an alternate reality. Wonderful series of books. Black is the first of the series, followed by Red, White, and then Green.

Twilight, Harry Potter, Sookie Stackhouse.

This Summer I went on a reading binge and read(and loved or liked): the Mortal instruments series(loved!!!), Clockwork Angel, The entire Vampire Academy, House of Night, Drake Chronicles, and Iron Fey series. Hunger Games series and Divergent.

I think Mortal Instruments series and Hunger games were my most favorite...

Edited to say I am almost done with the Fever series and really liked it. I also read and loved the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Thanks for the recommendations!

First, my favorite series of all time is Madeleine L'Engle's Meet the Austins series, (Independent Reader to Young Adult themes in the last one). I think they might have largely contributed to me getting through some troubled youth years.
The first one is Meet the Austins, the best one is A Ring of Endless Light, which can be read kind of on it's own.

These might be a bit off everyone's radar, but Franchesca Lia Block was writing "teen goth" and "modern fairy tale" stuff about a decade before the current resurgence. They are short, quirky and probably my favorite of this genre.
Dangerous Angels Series:
Start with Weetzie Bat, they also have all the Weetzie Bat's in the compilation of Dangerous Angels (might be the only way to get some in print still)

I have a huge love of Authurian & Merlin legends, my favorites are:
The Mists of Avalon Series by Marion Zimmer Bradley
The Arthurian Saga by Mary Stewart, The Crystal Cave is the first one.
The Camulod Chronicles by Jack Whyte, The Sky Stone is the first one. <-- This one takes a Roman Military perspective, unique and I loved every bit, not so much magic and fantasy (although there is some)

Also Dragonlance.

I'll just second some others people have mentioned, Outlander Series, Harry Potter, and am currently reading and loving the Song and Ice and Fire series. I am also reading Rick Riordan's Hero's of Olympus Series (we're on The Son of Neptune) out-loud to my kids. We devoured and adored Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

i'm reading book 1 of that series right now debra. it's a very good story line, but i feel like i'm plodding through it. i don't know why it's such a slow read for me. but very good, like i said.

Me too, Rebecca. It's so unlike my normal reading material. There are soooo many characters. But, I am continuing because it's interesting and well written. I'm not sure yet if I'll continue the series. I'll probably need to read some other authors after completing this 800-page book.

I so love a series. In fact, if it's a one off book, I'm less likely to pick it up because I hate to let go of some characters.

Looks like I read a completely different type of book than the rest of you :lol but here goes:
Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly. One of the best Police Procedurals EVER! Actually, all of his books are the bomb!
Kinsey Millhone series by Sue Grafton. Also known as the "Alphabet Mysteries." I'm up to Q is for Quarry, but she just released V is for Vengeance.
Hercule Poirot series by Dame Agatha Christie. Good puzzle mysteries. They're quick reads and nice break from some of the heavier stuff (like Harry Bosch).
The Burglar Who... series by Lawrence Block. OMG these are just the funnies books! Lawrence Block is such a witty writer. Poor Bernie is always getting himself into a sticky situation and it's hysterical to see how he gets out of it. My favorite is The Burglar Who Thought He Was Bogart.
Sharon McCone series by Marcia Muller. These are about a San Francisco Private Eye. I really love these because I lived and worked in SF, so many of the places she describes I've been to.
Spencer series by Robert B. Parker. This one is about a Boston P.I. Yes, this is the series the TV show "Spencer for Hire" was based on. They are both gritty and funny. Spencer is a very dry, witty character.
Inspector Lynley series by Elizabeth George. These are British mysteries and are more in the style of PD James. Longer, more complex stories that are full of detail.

There are so many others, but this is a good start. On my list of authors to try this year:

Stephanie Plum series (Janet Evanovich)
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series (Stieg Larson)
Joanna Brady series (J.A. Jance)

My goal is to read 100 books this year. in 2010 I read 14, in 2011 I read 57, so I think I can make it this year :D
