Oh I love series! Some of my faves are:
Harry Potter by JK Rowling
Southern Vampire Series (Sookie Stackhouse books) by Charlaine Harris
A Song of Fire and Ice by George RR Martin (Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, A Dance With Dragons)
The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien
Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
Harper Connelly series by Charlaine Harris (Grave Secret, An Ice Cold Grave, Grave Suprise, Grave Sight)
A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket - I know it's for kids but I think it's hilarious.
The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon
The Millennium trilogy by Stieg Larrson
Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis
Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan - Another one I know is for kids, but it's really fun and quick. Love the mix of pop culture and Greek myths.
Shopaholic by Sophia Kinsella - Really one of my favorites. Love the quirky British characters.
Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini (Eragon, Eldest, Brisinger, finally reading the last book Inheritance!) These are kind of tough to get into, but then are pretty cool. Dragons, elves, epic battles and stuff! The author was a teen when he wrote the first one.
Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning - thanks ladies for getting me hooked on that one. Mmmm, Barrons.
And here are some started recently::
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness - The first book in what's supposed to be a trilogy. A witch meets a vampire and makes a discovery about their history that has their lives in danger.
The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater
Shiver - Book 1: YA book about a young girl who has an unusual relationship with a wolf
The Magicians by Lev Grossman - I've read this and the 2nd book,
The Magician King. It's about a teenager who is accepted to a magical school - nothing like Hogwarts. He and his friends are more hipster, apathetic, drunk types, and they discover the stories they grew up with might not be fiction.
The Carrie Diaries &
Summer in the City by Candace Bushnell. If you like Sex and the City, these are really fun books about Carrie Bradshaw as a teenager.
And... because I'm a Star Wars nerd and I especially love Yoda, I picked up a kids book called
The Strange Case of Origami Yoda, which I thought was soooo cute and took like an hour to read. And I just saw there's a sequel called
Darth Paper Strikes Back!
Uglies, the first in a YA series about a futuristic world in which one is made "pretty" through surgery and other operations after reaching 16.
Stephanie Plum Bounty Hunter Series by Janet Evanovich: I read the first book a few years ago and finally picked up the second, third, fourth... I'm up to book 8 in two weeks! These books are hilarious and filled with lots of Jersey references, which I love being a fellow Jersey girl. (I think it's cool that I went to the same college and Girl Scout camp as Stephanie Plum!) Grandma Mazur and some of the other sidekicks are a riot and there are there is a pretty interesting love triangle.
